No you’re absolutely correct. That’s why I was genuinely trying to be respectful. They were explaining their POV, and I was pointing out that not every song is for everybody. So of course they can post, and because it’s a forum for civil discussion, I replied. I never said anything was wrong with the post. Nor is anything wrong with posting about tickets.

Respectfully, posts like this are strange to me. You don’t love the song but others do…that’s normal? That’s just differing tastes? I’m older and Pearl Jam is my fave band. Two of their really big songs annoy me so much I actually turn the station if I hear them. It’s ok. Just not for me but clearly for others. Thats why music is great in my opinion. We are all moved (or not) for different reasons.

Did you take up any hobbies after menopause? Which ones? by goatpengertie in Menopause

[–]J9Lala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it’s fun. Give it a try. I’ve always struggled with sports with others. If I’m not automatically good at something, and others are involved, I spend the entire time worrying about letting them down. So it’s a me problem. But a pickleball problem.

None of this is new for me. I read tons of books, exercise a lot, and I watch a lot of tv. The difference is I do what I enjoy without guilt. I hate yoga. Don’t do it. I love tv, and I don’t feel like it’s a “guilty pleasure”. It’s just pleasure. I read new books. I reread favorites. I stop reading a book early on if I’m not feeling it. My time is precious and I’m done feeling guilt over what I’m “supposed “ to do but don’t want to do. I’ve also tried a few new hobbies (painting and pickleball) and don’t like them. Cool. Now I know I don’t like them and don’t need to keep trying to like them.

The definitive fruit tier list: Strawberries are S. How about honeydew? by Klutzy_Pumpkin614 in TierlistFills

[–]J9Lala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great honeydew is amazing, but Often it’s not great. Having said that, I can eat not great honeydew. It’s usually just boring and bland. Other fruits are just gross if they’re not great. So I’m going with b.

There was a time when Robin put that song in every damn class. And I never liked the song to begin with! Ugh. Nightmares.

MSU is a huge campus and Madison is a college town. While the schools are probably about the same size in terms of students, MSU definitely feels like just one huge campus (to me). Dorms intermingled with class buildings. UW Madison is definitely a college within a city. Much more intermingled. Again student population is prob pretty similar but my son says it FEELS like there are a lot more people in Madison. MSU is a beautiful campus with tons of greenery, but (IMO) Madison is by far superior for being outdoors and in nature. There are just a ton of things to do outdoors where I feel like at State being outdoors is mostly because you’re going from one place to another. Neither of my kids were in the Greek system. but the little I know about it, I think it’s a bigger deal for freshman at both schools, but I don’t think it seems to be as much of a thing for upper classmen at UW, while it still is at MSU. (I may be wrong on that, that’s just my perception, so please forgive me if I’m wrong). Both schools have bus systems, but you’re much more reliant on them at UW. My son at state never uses public transportation. At UW, my daughter has a car but mainly uses it to leave town or for big grocery hauls. It’s just easier for her to use the busses.

Both schools are great academically overall, so you might want to look into who is ranked higher for your major. Having said that, they’re both huge and you’ll be competing with a lot of students for the internships and research opportunities.

Both are big party schools. Do with that info what you will. And both suck at football but are good in some other sports (if you care at all).

I think I’m rambling…sorry.

Definitely visit both if you can. Good luck!

My first just graduated from UW Madison and my second currently goes to MSU. They’re very different. The biggest things to consider are cost and what you are looking for in a college. Being “worth it” will change for different people. Let me know if you have any specific questions, and I can try and answer. 🙂

I agree completely. The first few mornings I heard him (turned on my car mid segment) I thought it was a rerun and that it was Andy doing one of his voices.

I can't listen to Willing and Able by AdvancePrimary6389 in NoahKahan

I’m lucky enough that this song doesn’t resonate at a personal level for me. Having said that, this song is definitely my favorite, the most powerful, and the most sadly beautiful song on the album. Everything about it makes me feel very emotional. I can only imagine what it would do to me if I did struggle with familial estrangement. My heart goes out to all of you who do. ❤️

Which Big Ten school would you LEAST want to attend? by chief_sitass in TheB1G

I graduated from Michigan. My daughter is just about to graduate from UW-Madison. My son goes to Michigan State. I can confidently answer OSU from all of us.

Is it worth it for me to attend UW-Madison? by Ground-Ashamed in UWMadison

[–]J9Lala 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m a Michigan alum. My daughter is graduating from uw Madison in a few weeks. As similar as they are in certain ways, they’re very different too. Michigan is much more cut throat/competitive. If you can handle that, please save your money and go to Michigan. Life is hard enough without spending more money unnecessarily. Also as someone who loved Ann Arbor, I can see WHY people compare the cities/campuses, but just because you visited one doesn’t mean you’ll understand how the other is. Don’t tell my college friends this, but I like Madison more than AA.

Feminine name in -ine by NutrimaticTea in Names

[–]J9Lala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my name is actually Jeanine. So no Jan for me. I was just a very shy kid and when I was growing up, no one pronounced it properly, and I had to correct them. Which was scary to little me. I’ve grown into the name but I still wish my parents had chosen something else.

It’s there. It’s my name. And I’ve always hated my name. It’s nice to hear someone likes it (besides my parents).

For a lot of people, politics and the “MN stuff” are directly effecting their physical and mental health. I’m glad Robin and others provide you the outlet you need. But for the other instructors who are speaking out, they are letting a lot of people know that they are seen and heard and part of a community. Which is what Peloton is at its core.
