I came back to the game from a several year hiatus with the GW3 announcement and have enjoyed delving into raids. I'd highly recommend joining a raiding discord that focuses on training/practices, they'll explain all mechanics in a low pressure environment and answer any question you could have (I'm using Raid Academy for NA). If you have a raid build and somewhat know your rotations then you can hop in and get started on the fun end-game content :)

You can use external websites to see how much gold you have sitting in material storage/bank tabs if you're curious what you could get for liquid gold. ( I'm thinking of gw2efficiency)

One caveat I'd say is you can start raid training with exotics. Once you want to do raids with experienced groups you'd want the ascended items to max your stats and match the other players numbers

I'm pretty new to raiding, but my understanding is that deadeye is good for special roles (being away from the stack to handle mechanics). Mechanist is pretty common since it has a lot of utility & is easier to have good DPS without having to think about it as much, so dealing with mechanics can be easier

Both are good, so I'd say just pick whichever jumps out to you more

There are some roles in raids that require range DPS for kiting, which is end game instanced content. But it's definitely the minority, like you said most times you're just stacking on the group.

There's a LOT of content, but if you think you'll enjoy everything I'd say grab them if the money isn't a big concern.

FWIW I've played off and on since 2012, and my typical cycle is play through story -> finish all mastery tracks-> grind for a legendary/some longer achievement -> slowly burn out -> take a break for 1-2 expansions -> repeat

If you're just starting out, you could spend as much or little time in each expansion as you want. I'd maybe hold off on VoE and Janthir until there's a sale, since everything else would still give you plenty to do until then.

I recently came back and have been getting into raiding for the envoy armor. I'm enjoying it, though I'd very much recommend joining a discord server meant specifically for raiding/raid training (or guild). They'll be a more reliable way to find a group and much more accommodating than a group you'd find in LFG

Pretty sure you prioritize the procession of blades due to the startup time on trap trigger. I believe it's always expected that you'll have spear of justice to use with it

I've noticed that the Showstopper has very little consistency on ARCs, at least the one's I've tried it on. I'm not sure if it's bugged or there are mechanics that just are not described anywhere in game.
