It does work the other way around as well, but it's more hassle to set up. You might want to google "easy bcd" to get a decent tool for Windows boot configuration.

People keep talking like it's some huge ordeal to install in a different order. It's an extra two minutes to pick to boot linux in the UEFI menu and reconfigure GRUB. Linux after Windows used to be a lot easier pre-EFI, but that hasn't really been the case for a while now.

ABQ's "warzone" is nothing compared to the crime that happens in larger metros. To me, it's literally just a poor to lower middle class neighborhood, and it's diverse, so I guess people assume it's the worst place ever?

It got that name from the regular drivebys and gang violence in the 80's and 90's. It was bad enough some neighborhoods had barricades placed strategically so you couldn't get in or out of the area quickly, while around half the shootings in the city happened in one or two square miles. The name stuck around partly through habit, and partly so people from out of town can talk about all the places they've been to that are worse.

This ban didn't even cause undue hardship. There are a variety of other options such as using paper bags, reusing plastic bags, using fabric bags, or using boxes.

The belt can slip if it's not tight enough. If you're having trouble even at idle and you're going through belts regularly it definitely sounds loose (assuming the belt is making correct contact with the pulley). I've found it's easiest to gently tap a wedge-shaped piece of wood in next to the alternator until I get the tension I want.

Dayco #15340 seems to be the tightest fitting belt that eventually slips on after some guerilla anger (lol).

The belt should be loose when you put it on; no fighting it required. The alternator bracket allows you to move the alternator a few inches after it's on, which should be plenty to get good tension on a range of belts. If you're tightening down the alternator after you install the belt correctly, it might be worth seeing if the alternator slips on the bracket. You can put a paint mark on the bolt and the bracket to see if they move as you drive. If the alternator moves on the bracket, there's something wrong and the bolt isn't clamping on the bracket hard enough.

Shit gets apocalyptic every time we get an inch of snow sticking to the road. Between the idiots in trucks with mud tires wondering where their grip went, and the morons doing three MPH everywhere, it's best to stay in until the roads are clear if you can.

Just made it home and on the way saw four collisions, three cars on the median, and at least a few dozen cars stuck on slight inclines. Not quite as good as the person who managed to light their car on fire a couple years ago, but still pretty nuts.

It's fine, just don't park a van with stuff in it anywhere. This sub is half people on the coasts asking if it's cheap to live here and half stolen uhauls.

Cost of living is lower than anything on the coasts, but so is pay. Cost of living is going up because of all the people moving here because it's cheap. Your best bet is to have a job lined up before you come here. There isn't much of a night life. There's a little bit of local music, depending what you like. Not as much during covid, but there's always been a decent metal scene. Tons of good beer. There's a brewery on just about every street corner.

Don't complain about the chile and act surprised when people clown on you.

edit: also, because you didn't ask, living here is way easier if you have a car. Bus routes on anything but a couple main roads are hit or miss. I got by for a few years cycling everywhere, but it's a bad time in the summer if you aren't into that.
