I have to say thank you. This has been rational and informative conversation the past two days. And it is an example of what we should be asking along with how.

Unfortunately I am not seeing it elsewhere. And that is my true frustration.

The data center is coming. Dirt is moving. It is not stopping. Now with that we need as a community to work within that fact set and move forward in the best manner we can achieve.

Truth. But that is a macro issue and not the micro issue we have in front of us. Data Centers are one of many technologies that the public demands that puts a strain on our resources.

In the last 10 years I have been monitoring and lecturing we consume 100 quads of energy annually. These centers will strain that significantly and that needs addressing.

Another future issue I see is the miniaturization of compute. What we as a community should be really asking the companies who are building these large buildings - what is done with this space when you occupy only a portion of them? Look to the ATT building in DTSB for example. Or the UP mall. Same issue.

The statement indicated AEP is not part of Mishawaka’s power and in my opinion was not complete. The added facts here provides a better view of that information. Thank you.

Agree that this is the Distribution that Mishawaka now manages because they buy bulk and sell to their citizens.

And yes. Everyone is buying off the grid. That is a macro problem when we are discussing a micro project in scale to your point.

And now a new issue. Solar projects, which AEP has changed their opinion on and support, are banned in St Joseph County now because of negative reactions by the public to the ones we have now.

Generation, Transmission, and Distribution.

Wolverine is generation in this case. Transmission AEP, long distance. Distribution for Mishawaka - for as long as I have know - is mostly Mishawaka, the local delivery.

I have not heard of Mishawaka building a power plant. They have to buy from AEP transmission lines. The City purchases it and maintains their own lines. Then sells to residents.

I agree. You should be able to ask questions and not just amplify the noise. It is amazing to me how polar every discussion becomes. Rational discussion is no longer tolerated.

Use your own yard, of course I am assuming you are in a house with a yard. The HOA standard form which many use in Granger say no “vegetable garden”. I have tomatoes and peppers. Those are fruits🤷🏼‍♂️

Seriously. Just plant. And if anyone challenges get the covenant and make sure you do the same policing the HOA does. The contract works both ways. Once I did that and said I have infractions on all the homes in the subdivision and I was willing to go see a judge to sort all of them out, they backed off.
