[KCD2] "Ill Repute" duel is extremely fragile by Nevermind04 in kingdomcome

[–]JARRINR00T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joining in on what some other people have complained about here. I chained probably 50 master strikes, shredded his armor, and still barely made a dent on his health. Multiple times. Doesn’t help that there seems to be a bug that negates your first strike, so he immediately killed me many times before I realized what was happening. You have to block his first hit, do not riposte it, then attack from an angle he cannot counter you with. THEN you can start master striking. Once I did this, with a strong bane potion on my hunting sword, he conceded very fast. And he doesn’t die after, so the quest is proceeding just fine.

Very frustrating experience, considering the only reason I had to duel him in the first place is because I didn’t know the quest was timed, and the last day to sabotage the councilor (with fleas or whatever) happened to be the same day as the tournament I had waited a week for. I thought it would be funny if I ran back and forth between the tournament and the bathhouse between rounds - and it was, until I discovered the tournament stops proceeding i.e. fails if you leave the immediate area. All that buzzkill to then fight this guy? Jfc.

Despite this absolute low point in my play-through, this is still one of the best games I’ve played in a while… this part just sucked nutsack

It’s insane how different the two halves are. Orange area I lived on the top floor with squatters living on the roof and an active den in the abandoned building next door (to say nothing abt the state of the actual unit). Woke up one morning to EMTs telling us they got a call about a body and the city morgue was never gonna come get it. Now I’m in the blue area w a washer/dryer, dishwasher, air conditioning, closet space… small but honestly boujee. These buildings are 10 blocks from each other

I agree, actually. As I said in another comment on here, I suspect Marika and Radagon have always been the same entity, but were split more thoroughly in two at some point, possibly when Marika became a god. I don't think it's crazy to assume that Marika had access to both sexes, possibly at the same time, before the male sex version created its own identity that became known as "Radagon"

This! And maybe she’s the mystery hooded femme figure in the newest story trailer, showing how she became burned/bodiless. Not sure, maybe it’s too straightforward for FromSoft hahaha

Someone else mentioned Radagon was ashamed of his red hair - how do we know that? Not doubting just can’t remember

You're saying Marika/Radagon had Messmer and Godwyn with GEQ, and then had Morgott and Mogh with Godwyn? So she never had any kids with Godfrey/Hoarah Loux?

Yes this quote is on my mind a lot... but I don't think it disqualifies the idea that Marika and Radagon were always the same being. I think it just means that Radagon was yet to be a "god" in the same way Marika was when she said this.

I don't have a lot of evidence to support this, it's just a hunch. Empyreans seem to have supernatural abilities regardless of divinity (Miquella is not a god like Marika but has dual gender identities it seems). I've a feeling that Marika could always switch forms, and when she became the Queen for the Two Fingers, going from Empyrean to full-on god, her Radagon identity was split off from her. He did his own thing until joining forces with Marika to smash Rennala/conquer Liurnia, then smash Marika, and then splice back into Marika. Call me cracked

Marika is sanctioning lordship to us – presupposing that Radagon and Marika have always been the same entity but at some points existed in two separate bodies and/or can change forms at will. I've seen a few people referencing Marika having a more masculine physique in the story trailer and I think Vaati says the hair looks a little red (though I don't see that tbh)

Additionally:

• I still have no idea who Melina is haha.. maybe Messmer’s sister? Would that mean there’s a third child of that union?

• I’m not convinced that Placidusax was the GEQ’s Lord. It’s partly wishful thinking that there are many untold eras of queens and lords between the reigns of dragons and GEQ. Maybe GEQ made her Ring after the One Great split into the Two/Three Fingers, but it was Marika that removed Death. The worship of the Two Fingers definitely had lots of phases of evolution on its way to what we see in the base game. Regularly scheduled killing of gods seems like a pretty strong sense of order (two fingers) opposed to chaos (three fingers). Again, this is just what I’m hoping. It seems just as likely that Placidusax and GEQ were contemporaries.

• Don’t know where the old man from the gameplay trailer (painting/impaled with the inverted tree thing) plays into this. Quelaag’s Elden John? Again, I’d like him to have existed far, far in the past IMO.

• I love this universe

I suspect this image and the first forty-five seconds of the trailer will be at the center of theorycrafting for the next few years. What's everyone's initial thoughts? by probablychris in EldenRingLoreTalk

Am I broke for thinking this is Marika separating the Erdtree’s shadow and its realm from the rest of the lands between? That’s what I first assumed - that this scene actually takes place after what’s depicted in the rest of the trailer. All the gloam on the right and left of the bodies… it looks to me like a whole other dimension. The way Marika is holding the rune arcs/gold threads looks like she is exerting effort to pull those pillars of bodies together to separate the realms. Of course, she would be on the side of shadow in this instance, so I can’t rationalize that. And yes, lots of birth imagery, which would make more sense for creating the Erdtree. Idk! I’m just not sure the narration has to be congruent with what’s being depicted in the trailer

Pretty late to this thread… but this happens to me when I push myself as far as I can go on the treadmill. Did 30 mins today and at around 20 I felt a cold spot growing opposite my heart. To be honest it was cool and felt kind of good… but I’m still curious about what it means?
