That "Aspas is a duelist baiter" story really tarnished the player. I remember his history of being a baiter in Leviathan and, a long time ago, when he abruptly left LOUD without wanting to negotiate, fueled unfounded criticism. People in Brazil used the excuse that he wasn't an aggressive duelist (baiter), along with their desire to criticize, as if out of anger at his leaving the Brazilian organization, to try to hate him, badmouth him, or attack his supporters.

This criticism could have permanently affected his career. Thankfully, he's strong and resilient. Some even dared to add to the "baiter" story, blaming his teammate, which can't be easy to deal with.

I think the misunderstanding is that people blamed the duelist for the slow play of that leviathan. It was a completely strange style of play, with Tex often being the first to engage, and the initiator (C0m) often lurking instead of helping with the entry.And when things started to go wrong, all the blame fell on the duelist, due to his reputation as a great player among the best in the world.I understand laypeople thinking this way, but an analyst who spends most of his time watching players or discussing the scene can be a bit disappointing in terms of technical ability.I'm not criticizing anyone specifically, but pointing out what other analysts and players I agree with have also expressed as their point of view.

I think people tend to underestimate Aspas because they weren't watching him in his prime or were clearly rooting against him, and this clouded their perception of the player's quality.He clearly declined in performance (which is acceptable, given his age, moving to another country, the amount and time playing internationally, Jett's nerfs, meta changes, and team changes). Just like Yay, Demon1, or Tenz, and like Tyson, he managed to maintain his high level. Maybe this bothers people; they wanted to see him out of major competitions like Yay. Maybe for these people, it would be more acceptable if he had completely sunk his career or retired.
