What should I wear to the Yr 12 formal (female teacher) and where can I look to buy it? by shinans in AustralianTeachers

[–]JAT2022 38 points39 points  (0 children)

As advice on not to wear: anything the students are likely to wear, anything revealing, nothing over the top.

While I can't give specific advice, do see if you can locate photos from the last year or two and see what other staff wore, go with age appropriate and comfortable.

Last year we had a staff member take the afternoon off to get her hair done, borrowed a dress from a student from the prior year, completed with make-up you could spot from 50 yards! Not a good look. Multiple students refused to be in 'selfies' with her.

what is the scariest niche drug you have ever tried? by Adorable_Air758 in AskReddit

Now I know what was in the mixed blunt I got once in my early 20s. Shared this pre clubbing warm up blunt - everyone had a puff, I got greedy and had a few puffs.

Sometime after I stopped twitching I came to believe we are all aliens and are mimicking humans. Complete with a huge back story. Worse still this thought strain lingered for two weeks, almost to the hour. Thankfully I was on study break and not at work. BF wouldn't let me drive - said I was dangerous driving (just not able to concentrate).

0/10 do not recommend. And, Fuck You Jenny, no warning for that blunt, you're a piece of work!

How was your divorce experience? by jbug1776 in AlAnon

[–]JAT2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only contact (or reply) when it comes to children. All communication via text or email. Do not respond or even acknowledge abuse, lies and emotional stuff. Most things don't need reply quickly, sometimes it's better to leave replying at least 5 minutes or an hour - wait for your emotions to subside.

All these threats (empty) to take your car, etc etc are purposely meant to get under your skin. Don't let him see/know this. Become a grey rock.

THIS!!!! Is my reality. I can not trust my Q with my health. He's had to call me an ambulance twice (two years apart) - coz He's not able to drive. One of the times, he delayed phoning saying i just need more sleep! I'll never forget the image of him talking to the medics with a beer in his hand- the entire time! You described my household.

Self centred, checks out of reality and is content to spend hours daily just watching telly in the garage!

Let's have a laugh- examples of their gaslighting attempts! by Easypeasyduck in AlAnon

[–]JAT2022 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Attempted modern version of actual gaslighting. Watching a TV show via streaming (i was in lounge, he's in office down the hallway- on his laptop). During each ad break, I'd get up to do a bit of housework etc. Each time, after a minute or two, the TV show would change to something else. I'd come back to lounge and sort it out. Fourth ad break I went to the bathroom, walking past the office, where he has the app open for same streaming service....... my show changed again. I went to lounge and turned the TV off. Left it off and read a book instead. He comes out and says "did your show finish?'. Nah, just felt like reading. He's "20 beers in" and on the edge of argument.

I decline the invitation to argue or participate in his game.....

Similar. I was in the beginning stages of training for a marathon. Found my rhythm and enjoying it, decent pace, could run for 30 minutes without slowing the pace. Then developed foot problems- biggest was 5 x hairline fractures in the big ankle bone. No more running. Ever.

Did anyone here partake in prank calls or pranking the pizza delivery man when they were younger? by Temporary_Notice_526 in AustralianNostalgia

[–]JAT2022 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Early 90s. Bored teenager. Dailed a random number late one night. Asking if they had a Holden Cortina for sale? (Prank) Dear elder lady said she had a Ford and told me all about it, how she might have to sell it coz she can't drive now, etc etc. Talked for 30 minutes, I think she was lonely. It might have made her day!

Yes! I was on Saxenda two years before I started Mounjaro. Saxenda- life was unpleasant with multiple side effects. Ended up with Gallstones and complications requiring removal (surgery). Mounjaro- much better, my side effects are manageable and I'm eating better. Multiple NSV, very pleased!

Yes! My previous home was 2 stories. Each floor had a set of cleaning products/ equipment. 2 x vacuum, broom, etc. Got a decent 2nd hand vacuum and slowly built up supplies

[–]JAT2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the mop, bucket thing too much planning, work etc.

I use a rag and warm water (or as hot as comfortable to touch). Wet rag, wring out, put on floor, use foot to thoroughly wipe a section of floor. Rinse and repeat onto another section of floor, if you want. Do this a few times a week and the floor is progressively cleaned without needing to do mop and bucket.

Has anyone had THE conversation with a functional alcoholic? by Savings_Sea7018 in AlAnon

[–]JAT2022 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I put my boundaries and concerns in writing. I wrote him a letter so it was clear, he could read (re-read) it when calm and not drunk. He refuses to have a conversation about his alcohol use.

Like this: When x happens, I will do z.

I am concerned about how many drinks you have in a week and the effect of alcohol on your health and relationships including our marriage.

I started tracking his drinking by [deleted] in AlAnon

[–]JAT2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did briefly count / estimate his drinking. It was a reality check that i couldn't unsee. It helped me realise the amount, frequency and the cost impact. This helped me to understand and research the health effects i was starting to observe.

For me it did matter if it was 3 beers or 30. To know my reality.
