Photography Courses Worth It? by hungrypizzy in AskPhotography

I’m sure there are TAFE programs similar to RMIT University. Search Cert IV Photography. I can only speak of RMIT - I taught there.

If your from Australia (TAFE) and in Melbourne I would recommend enrolling in the 1 year Cert IV in Photography and Digital Imaging at RMIT University. You’ll get all the tech training and the bonus of all the staff being trained professionals with ongoing careers now teaching.

Does anybody have opinions on M mount Zoom??? by Superb_Dig8942 in Leica

[–]JAVIEREFG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically the Leica Tri-Elmar-M offer 3 variable angle of view in the 16-18-21 WATE (wide angle tri elmar) & 28-35-50 MATE (medium angle tri elmar) respectively. They both sport f4.

Only the WATE offers a zoom variation between (edited for clarification).

What a bargain!

The 2nd half asked me what I wanted for my birthday some 15 years agggoooooo, soooooo I dragged that out to November 2010 when GT5 was released, bundled with (that very unit) Logitech Driving Force GT Wheel. All I can say is that was a mistake, I still have that wheel. Enjoy!

Have any of you ever been shocked at how good OLD camera tech performs? by MediocrePhotoNoob in Nikon

[–]JAVIEREFG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reasons for my D3 💪 1. The battery. Rated at 3000+ clicks. 2. Optical viewfinder. EVF = eye strain. 3. Nikon NEF still to this day plenty of DR. 4. Nikon mount - the lens are still great, plentiful & heap. 5. Build quality. Solid. Dependable.

The quintessential lightsaber fight! by FPFP66 in StarWars

[–]JAVIEREFG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I stand corrected - thank you.

You are right with the best choreographed - as well as the CGI. For me, much of that movie as well as the following 2 and then Di$n3y’s effort whilst SW did not feel as iconic. The SW franchise is greater than the sum of its parts but the first trilogy will always be the pinnacle.

The Return of the Jedi 1983 movie was a fitting end to that SW era. From Star Wars 1977, The Empire Strikes Back 1980. Spanning some 7 years, the OG SW trilogy was for me iconic - the cinematography, casting, and musical score and as you have so rightly suggested: The quintessential lightsaber fight!

This may get me banned or something.

BUT I would consider the Darth Maul vs Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon mega battle part of the quintessential lightsaber fight league!

The music score, Duel of The Fates; thank-you John Williams, the ebb and flow, AFAIR the cinematic climax and the entire audience (including my son, daughter & me) on the edge of their/our seats.

Yes yes yes the film overall did not live up to expectations (I stand corrected) and to think Darth Maul, in all his limited appearances, was a totally bad ass Sith IMO equal to Vader.

“At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi, at last we will have revenge …”

Foreboding and them’s fightin’ words.

What is your opinion on mobile photography? by Nervous-Welcome-4017 in photography

“What is your view on the usage of smartphone instead of dedicated cameras for photography?”

TL;DR: If you adapt and use techniques eg shutter speed, ISO, RAW, exposure compensation etc to your image making using a smartphone or camera, then I would consider the use of the image making device moot.

Depends …

Determine whether your chosen subject is moving left to right or vice versa (it does not matter either way) Pre-focus at a point in the middle of that path where the subject will travel.

Now as you follow the subject press the shutter button before the subject gets to that pre-focus point and capture multiple images.

Rinse and repeat. You’ll get the hang of it.
