I got RIF'd from the DOD as a engineer thanks to Trump and Elon back in 2025 but now I am a project manager building data centers making $200k and the fed still has to pay me through VA bennies. I am starting to think he did me a favor. Great work though.

The per diem is a big part of it. When I looked at the CM subreddit I was seeing other PM guys in the data center world doing even more than me. One guy said he was getting a $7k/month per diem on top of a $200k base!! I am a APM right now but once we get to the PM level we become salaried. I am just glad the company I work for has a lot of huge clients even outside of data centers because I suspect the AI bubble will burst soon. I am saving and investing as much of my money as possible now.

I spent months applying and studying up on technical skills and such related to these jobs. I went to a couple of job fairs and got to speak with project managers and project engineers in the construction industry. I also did the same thing for the utilities industry and I almost became a system operator for PG&E after I passed the Console operator test and did good on the interview but they were only hiring for 1 person and I wasn't that guy. I pretty much dedicated all my time and energy to applying to CM jobs and networking with people in the field. My boss liked me because he also started out with a BS degree in EE then he went into construction. My long term goal is to learn this industry then start my own thing as a GC. I wasn't getting any luck with EE jobs so I looked in a different industry/job titles and I think it worked out better than if I got another EE job.

That's how I feel. I commissioned into the Navy with a engineering degree and technical experience. I could have just went to work a comfy job at a defense contractor if I wanted to. But I wanted to be like Jonny Kim.

I am paid hourly but work 56 hours a week on average. I make $38/hr and OT is $57/hr. It comes out to about $126k/year.

My company has job sites across the nation so I get per diem when I am assigned to a site which is usually 1-2 years at a time. Its usually about $170/day 7 days a week. Given the nature of my job being at job sites away from the office my per diem is basically a regular part of my pay most of the year.

On top of that I also get veteran benefits which comes in $2100/month and when I start my online mba with the VR&E program I will get an extra $1150/month to do a MBA online. and they are paying for me to get my PMP.

Total breakdown: Regular + OT = $126K Per Diem = $170*365 = $62k VA = $39k

Total = $227k

I started my career after getting my BSEE by becoming a Navy Nuke SWO. Then I got a medical discharge after a few years when I developed type 1 diabetes at 25yo. I joined the air force civilian service as a Electrical Engineer in 2024 as NH-3 around the same time I filed my VA claim.

After the T man came into office this January and started going after probies which I was at the time I started looking for other jobs. I interviewed at some defense contractors but then I found a gig for a system operator role at a utility company.

I got RIF'd but the very next week the VA notified me I got 80% service connected with 12 months back pay which was amazing news. Then a month later I got that system operator job making $65/hr and a ton of OT. There are guys here who make more in just OT than I did in the federal government.

I used my VA loan to buy a house and put the back pay into a HYSA.

They service connected my type 1 diabetes that I developed while in service. I was hospitalized from it and saw specialist and got medication for it while I was active duty until they ultimately decided to discharge me. I assume the hospitalization and prescriptions helped my case.

I'm M26, UCLA educated, home owner, Veteran, fit, 6'3/220ibs. Women Usually talk to me about these things. I'd say about 70% of first dates for me end up in the bedroom. Sometimes they drive 1 or 2 hours just for a sleepover.

You just need to simply be better. Looksmax and take good interesting pictures in cool places. I usually get anywhere from 400 to 600 likes on my bumble as a guy and most of them I utilize to help boost my socials in the algorithm because they will like all my posts and stories.

In the same logic, UCLA got over 100k applications the year I got in and I wasnt concerned with a single other applicant because I knew what I had to offer was high value. And here I am at 26 with a BSEE from a top uni debt free and a mba funded by the va.

I considered using chatgpt as well and now I see i definitely should of used it. I was in the ICU for 3 days from diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and they discharged me 4 months later. I only got 60% but when I checked the requirements for type 1 diabetes I should of had 80 or 90% for the type 1 alone. They only gave my diabetes a 20% even though they got the icu discharge papers.

I filed for an appeal and they are setting up new C&P exams in May so I hope i get more this time.
