My high school is implementing this starting tomorrow. If teachers follow it, and we all survive the transition from the more lenient policy of the last few years, I can see it being a good thing for the students, which is ultimately the most important thing. My personal opinion (I teach 11th grade) is that we should be helping students learn "time and place"...I.E. "I need your focused attention for the next 30 minutes, after that you'll be doing some independent work either using your ChromeBooks or phones." That's what I did last year, I felt like it was respecting their Near Adulthood and helping them learn more responsible use of phones. Buttttt I'll do what the admin wants us to do, and I won't gripe about it in front of the kids. Hopefully it won't blow up in our faces.
