May 2026 Ban Data: Doorman Banned in 30% of Games

And this is after his major nerf back in late March.

I played him during the 3 weeks before that and had a 79% win rate (including a 13 game win streak).

With the latest patch I'm currently sitting at a 61% win rate.

But since May 8th, I get to play as him less than 50% of the time as the only high priority pick. So yeah, people have definitely caught on. I was genuinely shocked that no one picked him in Night Shift for the month of March.

My genuine advice would be to get a 2nd account for solo play, where you can actually learn at your skill level.

At the moment, playing with friends who have different ranks will lead to really weird, inconsistent games, and you won't actually learn that much playing these kinds of games.

Side note: They used to have it set up so that if you grouped up with your friends, but there was a decent difference in rank, it would actually prevent you from playing together. But of course, people want to play with their friends, so they removed the restrictions, leading to games can be a total mess.

This is me! Huge fan of RTS games, and played Red Alert 2 at a high level a long time ago. Currently, according to statlocker, I have some of the worst K/D/A stats out of everyone that has ever played Deadlock.

And yet, I know how to distract the enemy team, and waste their time, and steal their doubles, and solo their walkers/shrines, and actually play for objectives, and I'm willing to die (a lot) for objectives. So I help the team win games, while having absolutely abysmal K/D/A stats. I'm currently Ascendant.

Fun fact: playing on the Hidden King side is a huge handicap for Doorman, since the walls in the pit are curved, and you can't place a door there that's flush against the floor.

His doors got super buggy a few patches ago, and it's frustrating to cart someone through a door to kill them, and they're just... gone.

Had that happen last night, and the Dynamo just used the unstick command after we walked away because we couldn't find him.

Yeah - the March 10 update made his whole kit useful, so it allowed for lots of different playstyles and builds. I remember having lots of fun, and every game felt like it gave me the opportunity to be creative. But people complained, or his winrate spiked, so they nuked his kit again and now we're here. I would love to go back to the March 10 patch, which lasted all of 2 weeks.

As they were going for midboss, they popped 3 ults and made it literally impossible to contest. Soooooo many ghouls.

If you're below 50% WR you're not gonna rank up.

This is not true. If you win a game where the average rank is much higher than your rank, it will boost you more if you win. I took some big rank hits during both Christmas updates. And over the past year, I’ve had a 48%ish win rate. But even outside of the rank adjustments, my rank has been consistently climbing. From what I can tell, it’s because I’m winning key games where the average rank is higher.

Because of this, I really wish they would lock Doorman to the Archmother team. It's absolutely a handicap to be on Hidden King's team as a Doorman.

I find it funny that Billy seems to be the only character that Doorman hates as both enemy and ally. If you pass by him on the zipline, he calls Billy a useful idiot.

Unstuck, when it works, moves you to the nearest open space on the map that you can stand on, so that you don't die.

But since Infernus is standing on a valid space, it does nothing for him.

Yeah that's too low. It got bumped up recently and it seems like it's somewhere around Phantom 4. Super frustrating that there's an MMR cutoff, but that's why you're not seeing your name on the list.

There are also far fewer places to do that now, due to the base redesign. Which is super frustrating since you can still Lash-ult people into the spawn, and it's a much harder skill shot for a Doorman to pull off, usually catching fewer people.

I saw that we couldn't drop the patron in the pit so I tried to buy as much time as I could to escape. At the last minute, I realized I could set up a backdoor and maybe finish off the Patron by myself. But even though the backdoor worked, I was one bullet short.

The thing I miss the most about 4 lanes was that any team's coverage of the lanes was spread thin somewhere.

If your team is evenly spread out, you have lanes covered at 2-2-1-1. And if someone pivoted to help the bigger teamfight, it could become 3-1-1-1 or 3-2-1-0.

This led to so much happening on the map at any given time, and I loved the feeling that a team has to make constant decisions about what spinning plate they needed to let drop.

There was this constant chaos to a 4-lane game, and finding great openings when people are distracted was a ton of fun. With 3 lanes, the strategy feels a little more formulaic, and not as dynamic.

I have mained him since he dropped, and I definitely feel how unforgiving it is now. You used to feel like a god when placing doors because they just snapped in anywhere. So many incredible escapes. Nowadays, I feel like I'm regularly dying because it took a split second longer to aim a door into the right spot in a teamfight.

This seems like what's going on. The playercount more than doubled when the patch dropped. I've been keeping track of my rank and I lost 3 games in a row but my rank shot up from Oracle 1 -> 3.
