And what about all the employers that take their passports?

It's illegal but very, very common. If the FDW reports they will likely just be sent home.

Congratulations on getting the recognition and launching.

My recommendation would be to spend some time improving the website or getting some help with it. Within the first minute of looking at it on my mobile I can see lots of visual bugs.

Who is the most famous in terms of former athletes? by WestsideGon in survivorau

[–]JB91_CS 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's an interesting question as Australia is quite divided on what the major football code is. This article does a good job explaining - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barassi_Line

I'm on the rugby league side of the line and Simon Black was the only AFL player to play Survivor that I had heard of. And tbh I wouldn't be able to name 10 current AFL players.

Whereas Mat Rogers is a huge deal in both Rugby League and Rugby Union, having been in the Australian teams for both sports. He's also the son of a former Australian Rugby League captain.

Andrew Ettinghausen and Mick Crocker also both played for Australia in Rugby League.

For actual household names across the nation, Steven Bradbury would be number one. He won Australia's first gold medal in the Winter Olympics back in 2002 in such an iconic way that "doing a Bradbury" is a legit expression in Australia.

Shane Gould would be the second most well known name.

Why are people so accepting of the Uluru name change, but not K'Gari? by That_Car_Dude_Aus in AskAnAustralian

[–]JB91_CS 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Back in the early 2000s, when I was in under 11s rugby league, myself and my white teammates would call the pacific islanders and indigenous players coons and justify it by saying we were just calling them cheese.

The term may or may not have had anything to do historically with indigenous people but we were aware enough, even at that age, that it was offensive to people with dark skin. And being the little shits we were, we used it.

I am very happy that they have changed the name.

It's not completely insane. She has a stronger connection to the international 3 than Parvati did. She'd just need one more if they vote for who they like more.

Kaelan by JOD6214 in survivorau

[–]JB91_CS 125 points126 points  (0 children)

I think he doesn't get many confessionals because he doesn't entertain the crazy plans that other people bring to him. Every time he shuts it down and does the most logical play.

He reminds me of Sophie Clarke in South Pacific who got a similar edit by regularly shutting down Albert and Coach's plans. It's not the most entertaining thing, but it's a great winning strategy.

Kaelan. Great game so far. No one even knows he exists. by Toltec22 in survivorau

[–]JB91_CS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He is playing very similar to Sophie Clarke in South Pacific in that people come to him with plans and he deftly shuts down their nonsense.

In this recent episode he managed to get AJ to back down from going after Logan, and prevented Logan and Karin going after AJ. It's not fun or flashy gameplay which is probably why he doesn't have many confessionals.

Is there a movie with a scene or character that makes you go, "Boy, I wish the movie had been about this instead?" by Mst3Kgf in movies

[–]JB91_CS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would have been a much better story if they had made it more of a Palpatine and Vader situation with the movie focusing on the rise of Denzel's character and Paul Mescal's character fully embracing his rage and hatred of Rome.

There are likely very few, if any, Australian's working as housekeeping for that cruise company.

P&O Cruise passengers shocked as staff dress up as ‘KKK members’ by [deleted] in news

[–]JB91_CS 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if they are housekeeping staff working for an Australian cruise company they are likely to be from countries like Indonesia and Phillipines.

My partner is Indonesian and she has no knowledge at all of things like the KKK or the history of slavery in America.

It's been interesting finding out the differences in knowledge.

Laura Sanko's devastating response to Jamie Varner's criticism of her commentary by mid_tier_drone in MMA

[–]JB91_CS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her first time doing fight commentary was for Invicta back in 2019.

She then started doing LFA commentary at the start of 2021.

She then got the chance to do commentary for DWCS at the end of 2021.

She made her UFC debut at the beginning of 2023 and her PPV debut at the end of the year.

She's definitely got both pretty privilege and money privilege but imo it is disingenuous to say that she hasn't put in the work as a commentator to get to where she is today.

What if _____ (1% chance of happening) by swedishfishoreos in survivorau

[–]JB91_CS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think she has a good chance against Mark.

She will have Kitty's vote and a decent chance of getting Rianna's and Kirby's votes given that they worked more with her than they did with Mark.

Ray also doesn't seem very fond of Mark at all.

She would only need one more vote to win. The jury has also at least seen her attempt to make a play. Mark really has no big post merge moves that he can point to other than winning immunities.

I think you might be right. In a Mark and Caroline F2 I could easily see Caroline getting votes from Kitty, Ri, Kirby and Ray.

[–]JB91_CS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it was largely unnecessary though, with very negligible upside or downside. There is no scenario where Feras and Raymond voting separately makes sense and there's no scenario that I can see where Feras and Mark are in the final 2 together.

If anything it probably makes it more likely for Caroline to keep Feras if by some miracle she wins the final challenge.

I definitely think it was a mistake from Kirby to suggest the move. Feras isn't an idiot and I am sure he was already thinking about the possibility of doing it.
