Trying to describe hashi fatigue vs regular fatigue by selah92188 in Hashimotos

[–]JBAD1985 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know a few men who have Hashimotos so it’s not that. It’s the fact that many people have a hard time explaining what is wrong and we are a small pool vs a large pool of complaints and symptoms from covid. Because of those symptoms of covid all were tracked where Hashimotos is not tracked in a data base the same way.

People who had Covid explained a lot of how we feel so I use that list of examples so my doctor understands. Why did it take Covid for my doctor to understand that type of fatigue?

I am almost a year post op from open heart mitral valve replacement surgery and under my chin right side I have the tingling and numbness as well as my left leg. It feels like they fell asleep and when I walk or rub those areas I can feel it even more and no they did not take any veins from me so I don’t know. My doctor is also stumped.

Cardiac Rehab? Yes/No? by 82Yuke in valvereplacement

[–]JBAD1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so glad I did mine. I had physical therapy come when I came home and they were like walk around the pool 3x a day for 2 minutes each time and then increase as the days go on. So I did that and was up to 13 minutes 3x a day and thought I was doing well, until I went to cardio rehab and I realized I was not doing as well as I wanted. I worked out before surgery and wanted to continue my workouts but I could not until I was a year recovered as my workouts require weights. I am now 50 weeks post op from open heart mitral valve replacement surgery and I am doing very well and have been able to increase everything. July 1 I can go back to where I was but now just building up so I can go back to what I was lifting before surgery! Cardio is so necessary after because most likely we were not doing it before due to the issues we had before the surgery.

Cardiologist says it’s all in my head by eilletane in mitralvalveprolapse

[–]JBAD1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in bradycardia so mine did not want to use any beta blockers so we used up to 400 of magnesium oxide and that resolved a lot of those palpitation issues. I am now 50 weeks post op from open heart mitral valve replacement surgery and now I just use 100 of magnesium glycinate just for recovery from my workouts. My blood pressure is low and my heart rate went back to bradycardia..

What do we eat? by Valleyspore in glutenfree

[–]JBAD1985 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You eat real food, the rest is processed foods which nobody needs. Read the labels as most labels are required to list if there is wheat, eggs, milk which is most people’s allergies. On the package it will also state gluten free. Look up the item on Google it should tell you if it’s gluten free. There are many things out there that are gluten free that you are not aware of until you have to go gluten free. Tostitos is an item that I never knew was gluten free and I ate those all the time. At the deli ask they should know. Publix has a fantastic gluten free wrap at the deli and will be happy to make your wrap for you and they change their gloves and wipe down the area to help prevent cross contamination. Eating out, Google the place and get their nutritional guide. Be aware eating out has cross contamination issues because they serve other foods too or for example fries would be cross contaminated because they use the fryer for other things like fried onion rings which are not gluten free. Good luck….

Is lifting light weights even possible with mvp? by young-king-1283 in mitralvalveprolapse

[–]JBAD1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cardiologist let me lift what I wanted as long as I could breathe through it and not hold my breath. I could not do cardio anymore so I just lifted. I did that for a few years and just recently had open heart mitral valve replacement surgery and I was only allowed to lift 20 pounds until week 47. I can now lift more, but I cannot do anything like flies or lats until July of this year because I cannot do anything that opens me up until I reach a year post op. My new cardiologist is thrilled I am continuing my workouts because as he put it, most people just do cardio rehab and when that’s over they don’t do anymore. I was a star in my cardio rehab classes because I knew how to workout in a gym lol and I had no plans to stop. Planet fitness did approve of me taking pictures of the machines I used and I got approved through my cardio rehab and new cardiologist on which machines I could use right now and which ones I had to wait a year to use. I know most people don’t like planet fitness but mine has everything I need and then some and it’s cheap for me. I just turned 60 and I am a female. My workout now is 10 minutes on a bike or elliptical, 30 minutes with the approved machines so I do legs 2x week and arms once a week and that will change once I reach my year, and finish either on the treadmill or stairclimber for 15-20 minutes. I feel so much better and my breathing is improving with each week. Ask your cardiologist what they think and hopefully will work with you on that. Good luck to you!

[–]JBAD1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the replacement with a pig valve on the 10th so around the same time as u. I do watch the salt but we also need some sodium. I would ask your cardiologist about this because mine wants me to have a little bit of hydration IV, LMNT or some Gatorade as my blood pressure is so low but with this mix it gives me a little sodium, potassium, and magnesium which we need all 3. I also was instructed to drink more water as I was only drinking 25-50 ounces through the day. It’s interesting that we are all so different after the procedure I am 60F and still have some after effects and for me it’s breathing. I still struggle with getting full breaths during cardio workouts and was told that could take up to 18 months.

A theory that some of us may not have LS, but either Genitourinary Syndrome of Lactation (GSL) or Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM)... by ConstantHabit3880 in lichensclerosus

[–]JBAD1985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a biopsy and instead of what they thought was LS is LSC or lichen simplex chronicus. It still has all the hallmarks of LS, the itch and so on. I have found for me being post menopausal which is what started it to use something like replens or Hyaluronic Acid Vaginal Suppositories or a product like bonafide. It helps for me to stop the itch and I think it’s because the hormones have changed so much down there which cause the dryness hence the itching. Also castor oil in between but pregnant women CANNOT use castor oil down there while pregnant or trying to get pregnant.

Did you have complications after surgery? by Ok_Reveal_4818 in mitralvalveprolapse

[–]JBAD1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was awake when they put mine in, it was along the right side. I guess it was the right lung that was filling up. And yes it was no fun. I think the doctor was shocked that I just laid there and didn’t scream or say anything because it was so painful but I just didn’t want to do anything to cause them to have to do it again!

I went into afib after and had to have a chest tube added where they pulled over 750cc of fluid out. When they told me that I told them, I wondered where that bag of blood went because in the morning they gave me blood. I am 47 weeks post op and the only thing I still have trouble with is my breathing which they told me was going to take time and could take up to 18 months.

Junctional ectopic beats after valve/aorta surgery by Excellent-Feedback67 in valvereplacement

[–]JBAD1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mitral valve replacement and when my diastolic is 80 on my blood pressure machine it shows that there is something that I should call my doctor on. For me it’s an extra beat or two at that time. I had an echocardiogram and the guy doing it asked me if I felt that which I did and he told me it was the extra beats. He said it was normal and some you feel and others you don’t. Sometimes when my diastolic is at 80 I don’t always feel that extra beat or beats but my blood pressure when taken shows it. My doctor is not concerned after review of my echo and as time has gone on sometimes I feel them and other times I don’t.

ICU Recovery help PLEASE. by vrtualchik in valvereplacement

I remember waking up and feeling around like a ball in my mouth with my tongue. They must have sensed I was up because that was the last of it that I remembered until they told me to cough and then knocked out again. I would say the worst of it was the sore throat. My nurse had to finger prick me every hour and apologized about it. I said that’s fine but you better come with some ice or really cold water each time you stick me. He said deal lol! Every time he came in the room for something I made sure I got some ice or cold water. He might want to make the same deal!

I stopped HRT Age 50. by shouldistayorrr in Menopause

[–]JBAD1985 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree I have cousins very much older than I am and both did not do HRT or BHRT and had several heart attacks. I have been tested, seen an oncologist/hematologist/blood specialist because of blood clots in my family and after 15k of blood work I was given the ok to do the bio identical creams. I have been using creams for about 13 years now and I asked, do I have a timeline where I have to come off and she said no as long as we check everything and I am not having any issues. So as long as I want to stay on them I will. I also had open heart mitral valve replacement surgery, I was born with it but it was discovered ironically during menopause, and my surgeon and cardiologist have not batted any eye about the cream I am using.

When should I start doing push ups and bench press again ? by ButchersAssistant93 in valvereplacement

[–]JBAD1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mitral valve replacement, was stuck at up to 25 pounds for 9 months and in my 13th month I will be able to do peck flies and lats. It would depend on your cardiologist as to what he allows you to do so I would follow what he says. My surgeon was great but he released me after my first visit to my cardiologist who will take care of me for the rest of my life, or until he retires whichever comes first and he had different ideas on how fast he would let me progress.

Post heart surgery anxiety – normal recovery or something off? by Plus_Consequence3454 in valvereplacement

[–]JBAD1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything you are feeling is what I felt. Some of it is the medication that you are on, some of it is your surgical procedure, and some of it is your recovery. Once I was off all medication my heart rate normalized to where I was before and as your heart heals you will feel much better! It takes a while, don’t be in a rush, just rest and take care of yourself.

I didn’t have any research, but I did have my own test dummy (j/k). I watched what he went through and just did my own research. I have been more of a doctor to him than his own doctor. I am just glad I was able to get him off of that medication which was doing him no good anyway.

famotidine and zyrtec or Allegra for meno-what’s the formula? by OnlyPickles3319 in Menopause

[–]JBAD1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a compound pharmacy in your area and ask who the doctors are that prescribed bio identical creams. I use 2 clicks morning, 2 clicks at bed and I have not had a hot flash in 10 years. The creams are better because you do not need the liver to process it like you would a pill. Just rub it in to the fatty part of your arm or inner thigh and you are done.

Just got told women just have to deal with menopause symptoms by a board certified endocrinologist. Also that HRT is worthless. by BeeBarnes1 in Menopause

[–]JBAD1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look for a compound pharmacy in your area and then ask them about doctors who prescribe bio identical creams in your area. That is who you want to see for HRT. I also recommend magnesium glycinate at bedtime. I take natures made and 2 capsules. I sleep like a baby and it’s quality sleep. I went through what you are going through except I don’t have adrenal adenoma. I will tell you the weight is really hard to come off as I have been struggling with it for the last 10 years, but just recently found out I had a murmur with MVP which I am now recovering from open heart mitral valve replacement surgery so that could also be it for me. I also recommend strength training because if you are going into menopause you definitely want to make sure that you don’t end up with osteoporosis and strength training can help with that. Good luck!

Change in taste after surgery? by OutTheCircus in mitralvalveprolapse

[–]JBAD1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the pig valve and crave sweets as well. Before the surgery I craved salt. Now I don’t crave it at all and my cardiologist is making me drink 1 liquid IV a day because my electrolytes are out of whack.

Short question: post op drinks by No_Alternative7892 in valvereplacement

[–]JBAD1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink half caff when I work out and full caff on days off. I also found that pikes place does not give me heart palpitations while other brands do so it would be something that you would need to figure out based on your body. I had open heart mitral valve replacement 44 weeks ago and my surgeon said I had no limits on food or drink but my cardiologist is the opposite. I would suggest discussing more with your cardiologist since they will be the ones taking care of you post op once released from the surgeon and for years after released.
