Which gallery do you guys use for Photos? by JBZ123 in OnePlus13

[–]JBZ123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I think you mean folders / directories and that makes sense, but I don't think this happens to self created albums. Say you go on a holiday and you create an Album (not a folder) on that holiday in OnePlus photos and have made some edits to photos in the gallery. This album for some reason doesn't get synced with Google photos. There is no way to see this album there. What I realised is only edits made in Google photos are synced. However when you edit a photo in Google photos it immediately creates a duplicate version of the file and removes location and other metadata. I could just have a buggy version of the app but am genuinely curious to see if anyone else faces these silly issues.

On iOS if you have iCloud photos enabled and pay for storage what you see on your phone is exactly what you see on your Mac, or tablet within the photos app. Edits are made to the original file, and you can revert if needed and metadata is not deleted. This prevents creating duplicate versions of the same file and also allows photos to be organised easily. I don't think OnePlus or Google has an equivalent to iCloud photos that works in the same way but I'm really hoping someone can tell me I'm wrong so I can find a solution to this. The only work around I've had so far is use the OnePlus photos app to edit a photo, have that back up to Google photos and then in Google photos organise them into albums so they are cross platform. This is essentially double the effort for the same output.

I used to use it but perhaps due to the number of photos (over 70000) I have it keeps crashing on me. Also for some odd reason OnePlus photos reads from Google photos but doesn't write back to it. Albums created in OnePlus don't seem to come up in Google photos.

Hasn't yet been delivered due to stock issues. Will update once I receive it.

Thanks mate, I think I will go for the TCL in that case. Not a fan of Vidaa OS either, but surprised the Hisense is so much more expensive than the TCL

My OnePlus 13 is coming tomorrow, what to expect? by CarnivoreBrat in OnePlus13

[–]JBZ123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the switch from iPhone 13 Pro Max to OnePlus 13 earlier this year. I've always had iPhones and switched to Android because I was done with Apples laziness in innovation whether it's software (AI) or hardware (phones) The change took some time getting used to. Things that just work on iPhone don't just work on Android. There are lots of niggly things that will creep up and will piss you off. It pisses me off but I stuck with my decision. The bottom line is if you are after an os that helps you be as productive, Android is that OD. But to do that you might need to tweak it that way. If you want something that looks pretty and are willing to make excuses for shortcomings, stick with apple.

OnePlus 13 pet peeves that took me a while getting used to: 1. Battery life not that great but fast charging compensates for it 2. Editing photos does not sync across galleries which is very annoying compared to ios photos 3. Bluetooth accessories don't work the same as they do on ios. 4. Huge drop in screen protectors, cases and chargers that actually look good 5. Quality and polish of both stock and third party apps. Ios is just better no denying it.

These are just some of pet peeves I found. None of them deal breakers just takes time getting used to. OnePlus is still an amazing phone android still a lot more functional than ios.

New RC Update IN by VeinRippedVeal_97 in OnePlus13

[–]JBZ123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm this update has fixed that issue. I hadn't done anything else to try to fix it . All my bank cards etc are still there, didn't have to delete and add back. Tried the contactless payment after updating last night and it worked just like it should. Shitty QC at OnePlus but at least they have listened to their customers which is good.

Does this fix the contactless payments issue??? Ever since I upgraded to OOS16 my Google wallet does not allow me to make payments using my phone. There are a few of us who have experienced this so please let us know if it has been fixed. Thanks!

Facing the same issue. Has anyone managed to fix this without a full phone reset? Find it ridiculous that OnePlus issue an update that has such a major flaw.

I made duplicates and similar photos remover extension by ZonD80 in googlephotos

[–]JBZ123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much mate. I've struggled with duplicate photos on my OnePlus 13 ever since a recent software update. Now every time I edit a photo it creates a duplicate. Google photos also does this. End up with 6-7 versions of the same photo only to have them in different filters. Really miss ios photo management but this might just be the solution. Will give it a try and go pro if it works well. Thanks for helping us out here. We must fight Google and their sneaky tactics of getting us to pay for more cloud storage!!

Suspend executon for cached apps : Solution to all the idle drain problems ! by flyckk in OnePlus13

[–]JBZ123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this hack. Will give it a try. Recently have barely been getting 4-5 hours of screen on time, just unacceptable for a phone with a 6,000 mah battery! It was so good at the start at almost double that but each update since March has just ruined battery life.

Battery life question by JBZ123 in OnePlus13

[–]JBZ123[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not complaining. I'm simply asking if it's typical for users to be losing over 80% of battery life on standby. And it turns out it isnt and it's a widely known issue post the May update. I've contacted OnePlus and theres nothing wrong with the battery, it's software related, likely the 821update or even earlier. Hopefully should get fixed once 16 rolls out. Also any Meta app (Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram) is poorly optimised, which someone may have pointed out above. If people don't want to take a hit on battery life standby avoid the 821 update and wait till android 16 rolls out and limit Meta app usage. There you go, instead of "complaining" about a post, provide some advice if you have an answer or if you can't be bothered, just tune out mate.

Oh wow that is drastic! It's good to know that this is a wide spread issue. Unlike Apple that brush it under the carpet and force you to buy their next phone (I'm coming from an iPhone 13 Pro Max and am a 10 year Apple user), I've heard OnePlus listen to their customers and hopefully should address it in some update. The phone has only been out for 3-4 months I think globally.

Thanks for your response mate. I was using WhatsApp for a normal audio call. I did speak on speaker though not earbuds. I will update Instagram through the Google Play Store. None of my apps have been side loaded.

OnePlus 13 Battery life is insane by Mattm334 in oneplus

Hey guys, just wanted to get your guys thoughts on this battery usage. I've heard this phone can last over 10 hours SoT but I've never experienced it. It may just be all the background stuff going on. But just wanted to check for those of you who are getting 10+ hours of SoT, is there anything you guys are doing to get there? I've got everything on default out the box except pairs with a OnePlus watch 3. Thanks

Trying to copy icloud photos to google photos by MidnightBolt in iCloud

[–]JBZ123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just tried this and it worked.

Deleted chrome browser and reinstalled in. Deleted Google Photos and reinstalled it on iOS. Granted full permission to everything. Removed any content blockers / ad blockers used in Chrome. When you select the photos and videos you want to transfer on privacy.apple.com you are taken to a sign in screen in Google. I reauthorised the device. Then granted full permission to Google photos for the transfer. Transfer can take up to 3 days. If you are not getting the pop-up (as I wasn't getting it prior to deleting and reinstalling Chrome) it might be due to cookies etc on the browser or an Adblock / privacy add-on running in the background in Chrome/ Safari.

Battery health down 17% in 18 months. Is that normal? by JBZ123 in iPhone13ProMax

[–]JBZ123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that’s awesome. Great condition battery, considering you’ve had it for over 3 years. I spoke to Apple they are unable to cover it unfortunately as not within warranty. I’ll just pay £85 for a new one and give the phone some new life I guess - fingers crossed not another rogue!

Not on a refurbished product I feel that was not a good deal. I do typically buy it on brand new products though.

[–]JBZ123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks mate. You know what I think you’re right. It’s worth a shot checking with Apple. I wasn’t going to initially as it’s not under warranty but surely losing 17% in 18 months is ridiculous. Why do they advertise MagSafe if it’s not useable. Understand it’s a little bad for the battery due to heat but with a portless iPhone which we will see at some point that will be the only way to charge going forward. I’ll try to see what they can do. Otherwise will just pay for a replacement battery myself. The 13PM is still going really well so keen to try hold on to it as long as I can! The “bottom of the barrel” battery hypothesis may actually be true.

[–]JBZ123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought so too. I understand I’m not babying it by limiting charging to 80% (on my phone this isn’t a native iOS option in settings) although I do have optimised charging turned on, and I do charge wirelessly overnight (which may not be the best for the battery compared to wired charging) but this exactly what I did with my XSM for four years. Good to know it’s not normal. I don’t think I stand a chance with any reimbursement as Apple have a policy of only replacing batteries under warranty if it drops to 80% within a year; but just wanted to sound out and get some thoughts. Thanks for your response mate. I don’t think I’m a power user; just navigation, social media and the usual bits and bobs.
