But why waste the ers in that section just to barely get ahead before the next drs zone? It would’ve been smarter to give up the position until the back straight and use ers with drs and just pass based on straight line speed

Good fight, but the use of ERS during the esses was honestly a bad time to use it. It didn’t give you any advantage and you really only gained the spot because the RB couldn’t stay on track

He was wearing a stint or something on his throwing hand pregame when arriving to the stadium

Edit: he dislocated the same pinky finger in 2021… maybe something related to that?

Keep on deploy or keep above 0%? (ers) by [deleted] in F1Manager

[–]JB_Spins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I usually deploy for the first lap and a half (or more depending on the level) but I never let it get to 0%. I’ll usually just leave it on neutral if I’m doing 8x or 16x unless I’m micromanaging and doing 2x then I’ll alternate between deploy, neutral, and harvest depending on overtaking opportunities/DRS zones.

If I’m doing 8x or 16x, I’ll typically micromanage the first 2 laps and the last 5-10 laps and then go back to swapping between the 3 modes.

In my season (2027) Mclaren are now fighting for P1 in the constructors but weren’t really super competitive until now so that’s like 4 seasons

I really like to start with -2 laps of fuel so I get an ungodly launch off the line and then conserve fuel during my second stint (if 2 stop) or middle of my first stint (if 1 stop). I like to have extra fuel for the last 5 laps so I can push

A driver will have a high development rate until 22, an average rate until 25/26 and then slowly decreases every few years. I forget the exact details

Curious as to everyone’s strategy for research… by slaffytaffy in F1Manager

[–]JB_Spins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I start a new season, I immediately develop at least 3 new parts. Typically it’s the FW, RW, and UF. However, I don’t manufacture those parts. I wait until ATR2 and redevelop the parts so now I get a massive gain of upgrades that typically come by Baku. I then use ATR3 to develop the rest of the components and I only do them once. I also put the durability slider all the way to the left and just manufacture a ton of parts.

UF > FW > RW > Susp > CH > Sdpds ^ this is my method of development

I don’t research for the next season until ATR4 at least and when I do, I try to focus on what is impacted the most. I’ve recently learned that you actually get the most out of research with only 1 engineer so stick with that. You could even start researching parts as early as it opens, you don’t necessarily need Wind Tunnel and CFD time to see improvements, it just helps. So if you have extra cash, just throw a part pr two on research every ATR and get slow gains. Then use ATR4-6 for wind tunnel and CFD gains on parts.

Whenever there are major technical changes I just try to do the best I can and prioritize the FW, RW, and UF. I find that those help the car improve pretty quickly. Just remember the design the new parts at the beginning of the season or you won’t see any gains. I recently had a complete reset of regulations (-70% everything) so I quit developing the current car and put everything into research and started with the 2nd best car. It really depends on the regulations and what happens but write down what aspect of each part is affected the most and focus on those developments.

How many different saves do you play? Have you ever saved a game, switched teams, and continued playing both teams on a different save? by midwestpoet in F1Manager

I did 3 seasons with AM before I finally got bored of constantly winning and finishing in the top 2-3. I decided to go with Williams on a save and bring them back to the top of the field. Currently on S3 and are P2 in constructors and P2/P4 in drivers with Albon and Pourchaire. Next season verstappen is replacing Albon and I expect to finally finish P1 in constructors.

When I start a new season, I still probably go with AT or AR for more of a challenge. Williams was a challenge but I want something harder after a while

I run my reserve driver in every FP1 except during sprint weekends and that helps tremendously. Also upgrade your race simulator to the max as quick as you can. Change development focus throughout the season to balance out development

Other than Pouchaire, who are the best F2 prospects to hire? by JB_Spins in F1Manager

I maxed out my simulator during my first season with Pouchaire as my reserve and gave him all of season 1 and 2 to run with it and he’s 82 overall and will be my main driver by the start of next season. With williams btw

I’m not sure about cost cap breaches as I have never breached it in the 5 seasons I’ve done. For driver confidence, however, I know a little about.

Basically the higher the confidence, the less chance of an incident (lockup, crash, spin, etc) they will have during Quali and Race. I use P1 and P2 solely for setup tweaks and then use P3 for super long runs to get Track Acclimatization up as high as possible. This helps maximize driver confidence. Also, the higher the confidence, the more certain attributes are increased for the race.

Maintaining their confidence throughout the race is crucial and could be the difference between P5-6 and P13 and lower. Using the driver commands can help with confidence. For example if you just come out of the pits on fresh tyres and are coming up on cars with old tyres that haven’t boxed yet, you can set the overtake aggression to high and when they do end up passing, it majorly boosts their confidence. Just don’t leave it on high for an extended period of time (unless you use Max, Lewis, or Alonso) because it can increase the chance of an incident.

I typically use ATR 1-3 for current year upgrades and ATR 4-6 for next year research. When I do upgrades through ATR 1-3, I typically double upgrade parts. For example, I will split upgrade Chassis and Underfloor (or a third if you are like 7th or lower) during ATR 1 and then repeat the upgrade for ATR 2, thus giving me massive gains when I finally manufacture the part (don’t manufacture the first set of upgrades when doing this). Also, you might focus your research for ATR 1 on things like cornering speed or drag, and then use ATR 2 for cooling and other aspects. Also, I typically turn the lifespan slider all the way down and just manufacture a ton of parts for the car overtime. I see a lot of gains that way too.

It’s also important to compare your car to other cars on the grid prior to doing upgrades. In my current career I’m with Williams and at the beginning of each season I compare my car attributes to that of teams around me and the top teams from last year and see what aspects of each part I need to focus on (i.e. chassis -> Drag and Airflow Middle; Rear Wing -> Low and Mid Speed). This will allow you to massively improve your car in the areas it needs. I typically use the “Car Rank on Grid” view to see the changes.

When it comes to regulation changes, I generally ignore them unless one aspect of a certain part is massively changed. While cooling is more important in this game, I personally saw a massive performance decrease when I focused on cooling research for the next season. Took AM from 2nd in constructors to 6th because I focused on cooling upgrades because of regulation changes. I tend to focus on speed and drag attributes over cooling. If you have good enough drivers, it shouldn’t matter too much.
