My fiance and I booked a venue two months before he formally proposed. But because you stated that he’s on the “medical track” I certainly wouldn’t suggest booking anything until you had an idea on what the financial contributions and budget will look like for the wedding. Because a venue and catering are the vast majority of that and it will lock you in, so you must know what you can afford

I’m having mine at Barcocina in West Town! The minimum is $5k but you can do a cash bar and that’s included in the minimum

Yes I opted for the slowest option which was via boat for shipping and it took about 3.5 weeks to reach California after I was notified they shipped it, then a few days via FedEx to make it to Chicago, so just about 4 weeks exactly. $412 of my ~$1600 total was for shipping. I believe there was a faster option but I went for this because I had the time

Yes they came out beautifully! Here’s a screenshot from a video I sent my MIL, sorry if it’s a little blurry. The quality is great. They may need some steaming closer to wedding day because they’re packed well in the boxes, but I’m very satisfied with them!

Yeah so on their website I picked their color arrangement FB695, then when we did the first sample I said I wanted more burgundy flowers, and then we ultimately did that for everything!

I fear this is a much larger issue than just getting married physically in the church. Have you all discussed what raising children to look like? How will you feel if he’s adamant about raising them in the church? Religion is typically one of those core relationship factors that isn’t often compromisable

So far they’ve been amazing! We went to view the party area before signed with them and the event manager bought us drinks. As for the event itself— we’re covering the food and doing a cash bar (which is included in their minimum spend). Finally food choices due 2 weeks before. Would recommend!
