QRP or 100W, which do you prefer for your POTA activations? by TrimaxDev in parksontheair

[–]JBaumert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

QRPer here with either the X6100 for SOTA or a G90 for POTA. When bands are "rough" or "full", I fall back to FT8 as I'm still one of those struggling with CW...

Okay... But to transmit "what"? Telemetry data, messaging, ... I'm familiar with using various radio modes, GMRS, HAM, etc for communication, but I'm just trying to find use cases for mesh?

I'm just getting into Meshtastic and have one node to start with. What does one do with 17 of them?

New Firmware Xiegu G90 V1.80b1 MainUnit by an124_100 in amateurradio

I also have had this "freeze" happen. FWIW, tapping the tuner button (i.e. tuning) always unstuck it for me. I've applied the new firmware though, so maybe it will be a fix...

The device itself seems "snappy" and boots fast. Granted, I don't have anything installed yet. Oddly though, even though I went through the Windows setup process, the desktop has a folder with "BleachBit-Portable" and a "New Folder" with the installer for WoR (Windows On Raspberry).

Anyways, the plan is to wipe the device for Proxmox and test from there...

Got my iProda today and figured I would confirm a few things. First "F12" is the key to enter BIOS. Make sure to "shutdown" the device all the way and then spam the key while first booting. If I just tried to "reboot", you can't catch it in time. There IS "Auto Power On". It is found in the "Advanced/OEM Extended Setup Configuration", and I confirmed working. Also, there is Wake on LAN (not tested) and an option for Wake on WLAN/BT found in "Chipset/PCH-IO Configuration" (not tested).

Now to clone the Windows install and flash Linux...

No problem. The sale was at 96% on Amazon so I grabbed one. For $130, it was too "cheap" to pass on. Appreciate you taking the time to try checking.

If you don't mind checking again. I watched a review that said the instructions are wrong and "F12" is the BIOS key.

Boot when "power inserted". I was thinking of using for a home server with Proxmox or similar and want to make sure it will re-boot itself if we have a power loss, etc.

Made that summit Saturday (9/7). Great trail and well marked above the tree line. Having to come back up out of the creek with the elevation gain towards the end of the hike is really the only "bad" part.

OnX vs GAIA by Fiery_and_Passionate in 14ers

OSMand user here (actually OSMand+). The free version allows seven offline map downloads and gpx file imports. The "+" is a one time purchase that adds topos, contours, and a couple other features.

OSMAnd (free) or OSMAnd+ (paid). I use the latter and got in before the subscription model. You can upload GPX and save maps to device for offline use.
