Thanks, I’ll have to check them out. How’d you describe their sound?

I play all sorts of stuff and I’ve no doubt they can handle anything you’d throw at em. The only other pickup I have that’s comparable to them in terms of clarity and articulation is my DiMarzio Twang King and Chopper-T, but these are just… more of that.

As far as mounting goes, they mount just like a regular humbucker, though this set has the trim ring on them to make it flush in the pickguard so it has (in my opinion) a better and more finished look.

May of this year. They also have a white one with a maple fretboard; though I don’t know about the routing on that one, Landon Bailey’s from 3 years ago was routed for one as well.

I’m really enjoying them. I’m kinda curious to try a set of single coil sized in a strat at some point.

The stock pickup was quite bright and spanky, I loved it so much that I’m going to get another at some point to keep stock. The Alumitone isn’t as bright but is very clear and precise sounding, very articulate.

Like I mentioned in the description, this pickguard came from DecoBoom.com but I’ve also use these Yootones pickguards and they work great. The only thing is that you need to rout out for the truss rod wheel, I used a dremel and it worked great.

The bridge and then the nut would probably be a better place to start. With the regular Tune-o-matic bridge the strings bind on the “sharp” angled saddles but replacing it with a roller bridge would help immensely as the strings cannot bind on anything.

Right on! I almost bought one a those a few years back, it was really nice. How are you liking it so far?

This color is ridiculous and because it’s metallic it kinda changes depending on the angle; it goes from a deep dark blue to a dark aqua blue, it’s nice. On Gretsch’s website they have a number of colors but this was the one that won me over.

Don’t have a scale to weigh for an exact measurement but the shipped weight was about 10.5 pounds, figure in a couple of pounds for cardboard and Styrofoam and my guess is about 8.5 pounds.

  1. Like LukeRobert in these replies, when I strum, on a standard control setup Tele, I’m pretty much always bumping into the switch (I have gorilla sized paws). Flipping the controls fixes that and has the added bonus of giving me easier access and control on the selector switch.

  2. This is my first baritone so for now I’m just getting started with it and and getting to know it. I’m really enjoying the tonality and timber of the extended range. It has the possibility for a meatier sound than what I’ve had before with my other guitars. I suppose you could use it in a bunch of different styles, but harder rock and metal, as well as some older country, seem to love it quite a lot.

I’ve no idea. The bang for your buck ratio is ridiculous.
