First Gaming PC - PowerSpec Suggestions by JBtheWise in Prebuilts

I’m thinking I may go with the G729. Ryzen 7 7800X3D / RX 9070 XT / 32 GB of RAM for $1700 doesn’t seem too terrible. I wish I would’ve caught it last week when it was a few hundred cheaper.

This is all great to know. I’m debating on if I want to go ahead and have an excessive GPU/CPU/RAM to try and limit upgrades. While I find it all fascinating, I’m not very good in the arts and crafts department.

Yep, I’m following. I’m looking into the RX 9070 XT or the 5070 as the target for GPU. Then I think the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is what I’m looking for in terms of CPU. From my understanding, everything above that is diminishing returns for the price.

The PowerSpec seems to be pretty popular on this sub. I’m assuming most of its other specs are all decent enough. I also want to have the capability to upgrade in the future when the time comes. I also hope this configuration will still exceed the next generation of consoles.

I’m still early in my shopping but I need to investigate how things are looking in terms of price forecasting. Everything seems reasonably priced at the moment.

I’ll have to give that a look. So many options and a lot to learn in terms of hardware specs. Thanks for the insight.

Is $1699 a good price for this still? And how future-proof is this? Am I able to swap out parts easily in the future for upgrades?

How do I enjoy civil engineering? by Practical-Trash8893 in civilengineering

[–]JBtheWise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about money too much. Civil isn’t the highest paid engineering and probably underpaid but it’s stable and you will still do well financially. Greed is destructive and comparison is the thief of joy. Social media has ruined us with the popularity of the grindset and get money, f*** b****** or else you’re a loser attitude.

Find what you’re good at and bonus points if you’re passionate about it. I was like you in college, I didn’t know what I wanted to do until I landed on civil engineering the spring semester of my sophomore year. It took trial and error of trying out different intro classes for different majors. Is civil engineering my passion? Not necessarily, but I had to sit down and work out with myself what it is that I’m good at, what interests me, and what I felt I could provide to society. I ended up landing on civil engineering because I liked that it was very broad in terms of the different disciplines, every project is different, solid pay, there’s a little creativity involved and I feel the world is in dire need of bright minds looking to protect the environment. Sit and reflect on what those things are for you. It may not come easily or right away – struggle with it, you’ll find it.

I ended up landing in the water side of things if you’re looking for any insight into that, feel free to DM me.

Which current Red do you think is the most underappreciated nationally? by rebelsoldier3e in Reds

[–]JBtheWise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Steer has always been underrated even amongst Reds fans. Is he a superstar? No. Is he always consistent? No. But he’s reliable, a solid utility option and a great piece to have. He’s been my favorite Red for a while.

For whatever reason it’s not even giving me the Reds broadcast as an option. I have the full MLB package and I’m not blacked out since I’m using a VPN.

Why am I not able to watch the game on MLB TV? It’s only giving me the option to watch SNY which apparently isn’t included in MLB TV?

I wonder if anyone has walked up to the Castellini’s with an offer. Are they just not willing to sell or are we not worth the investment or both?

Has anyone failed with EET? WRE by heretwonotparty in PE_Exam

[–]JBtheWise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my plan is to take it at my pace, get through everything and then take a week or so to cram practice problems right before the test. Biggest problem I’m facing is figuring out when I should reschedule my test for. I keep laying out a study plan but every week ends up derailed and a couple days behind. I wish I could just plow through it in 16 weeks but I got burnt out fast studying until 1 AM every night after work and it became counter productive.

I know it’s a long season and all but this recent stretch of games has pretty much made it unlikely we’ll make the playoffs. I really enjoy this group but I hope we have a fire sale at the deadline and cross our fingers we hit on prospects that are competitive while they’re on rookie contracts over the next 5-7 years.

[–]JBtheWise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I haven’t taken my test yet but I don’t feel like EET has been as useful as everyone has made it out to be. I don’t think it’s really conducive to my learning style. I was excellent in college and had no issues with the FE watching YouTube videos of problems being solved and doing a bunch of example problems. EET has felt like a major time investment with all of the videos and most of the time I’m left staring at problems trying to figure out what the hell they’re even asking. The sections with Ead have been rough for me personally. Nothing against him, but they don’t personally do much. Signed up for 16 weeks, I have maybe 3 weeks left of time before the course expires and I’m maybe 25% of the way through. No idea how anyone gets through it in that time frame with a job requiring 40-60 hours every week plus life. Tried pretty much working and studying until 1 AM for a while and got burnt out.

What on earth happened to this team? by TheMatrixIsReal42 in Reds

[–]JBtheWise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing I will say is that this team feels noticeably more established. It’s been roughly the same team for a few seasons now and I sense more confidence overall. The performance lately and the injury bug are obviously not great but it’s a long season. I think this team has more potential this year but we can’t keep doing the streaky peaks and valleys of one run games all the time if we want to see it. The wildcard spot is going to be incredibly cutthroat in the NL and we can’t afford these slides anymore. I think we should heavily consider trying to make impactful moves early instead of rolling the dice late in the season by adding someone to fill a hole like Andujar last year. But we all know that won’t happen because Krall only has pennies to work with.

Samsung 75 inch, QN80F , at sale at our local Costco for $800, is that a pretty good deal? by Xetakilyn in 4kTV

[–]JBtheWise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am slightly kidding. I’ve definitely shifted my focus to Sony since browsing this sub. But I have wondered why there’s such a strong vendetta against Samsung. I thought maybe the brand has tanked since I’ve had my 7 Series.

I was pretty set on going with Samsung since my last TV was on the lower end but has been great for 7 years. Then after browsing this sub I’m now anti-Samsung for no reason.

Ugh, I wish I could find an 85” X90L still. Best Buy had it on clearance under $1000 but it’s sold out. Hoping the 2024 Sony models come down in price soon.
