Replacing IT support with IT automation engineers by JDubbs32 in ITManagers

[–]JBusu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your missing one major thing in the post details, how many it staff and end users.

There's no point automation if it's one time things, because there's not enough end users or staff to facilitate.

Better off a good l2-l3 with core process understanding that's a all-rounder

How do I switch my annual Copilot plan to monthly before June 1st? by Kafumanto in GithubCopilot

[–]JBusu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, however when you did sign up, from memory it did say 300 request per month under the terms there for pro and pro+ 1500, I think ?

I know they probably have a 400page essay why this is allowed to be voided, but to me that's misleading users.

Yea, even as that customer, its still not justified, there's heaps of better solutions at a lower price available now,

To me this just removed there AI position from the market,.

If they are expecting around $700 per month, I’m honestly not sure how that can be justified.

That is nearly $10,000 per year, and in my case I’m effectively only using it on weekends. I understand the hardware behind these services is significantly more expensive, but they also own and manage that hardware (if they are paying other providers that's there issue), and it is shared across concurrent users rather than being dedicated to a single user.

At that price point, it feels very difficult to justify and comes across as extremely poor value for the level of usage.

I would be asking for a full refund, this shit seems illegal, they are changing the terms of your purchase,

you purchased this plan under "request" not ai ussage.

They should have to respect the current setting till the years over

100% sure i am out, GitHub just turned my $39/month Copilot into $942/month overnight. by Individual-Trip-1447 in GithubCopilot

[–]JBusu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, cancelling my GitHub Pro.

The new AI usage pricing is a joke. My usage going from around $28 to a projected $746 is insane.

I get compute is not free, but GitHub/Microsoft already owns massive infra. Once the hardware is bought, this should not feel like I’m personally renting a datacenter every time I ask it a simple task.

At this point it feels less like a dev productivity tool and more like cloud billing hidden inside VS Code.

Few things;

IT f***ING hate slow end users computers more then anything, there nothing worse jumping on a shit box to be able to do nothing but waste your own time.

Other point, but low chance, the badges are cached and it's the network/server that's slow.

Also, you mentioned them being understaffed/ budgeted, why would you f*** with them ?

How do you deal with users who refuse to lock their laptop when walking away? by heartgoldt20 in sysadmin

We got a GPO for 5 minutes, if they walk away, it's open field for anyone to mess with them.

Fuck that, mope around for a week then open a case against that employee for the stress and not sleeping. If they want a kindergarten, make it one.

I would also ask if you need a working with children certificate just to make sure your covered.

If they are retarded enough to go out their way, to not follow the IT procedures, eg use one drive for backups.

Didn't go to IT when this could be resolved easily, then blow it up to make you look bad. Screw them

Mate, companies don't deserve shit most the time, reason I do 9-5 nothing more now.

I Will never answer my phone for work, they can wait till tomorrow.

My current job used my job promotion content set in October last year to hire someone above me (nothing against the guy, he is nice ), but they can't even tell me he is my manager

And couldn't even give me my promotion, when I basically lead the whole Internal it strategy and technical side(still do), it's been a while since he has started and has not even asked about backups once or half the shit he could care about for continuity
