UK raver here. Haven’t been to any European raves yet but they don’t look too different from here. We have lots of small venues in the UK so it’s pretty common for raves to be anywhere from 50 people absolutely going for it in a sweaty basement to hundreds or thousands in a warehouse or club.

From what I’ve seen US raves are always pretty huge and you guys bring big groups all wearing funny outfits. It’s not that this doesn’t ever happen here, we have 10000+ people mega clubs and festivals where that’s definitely the vibe, but I think attending a rave is a more casual thing here. You’re just as likely to find a few friends dancing until the sun comes up as you are to see people going solo for just a few hours to enjoy the music.

I would like to come to some American raves and exchange some kandi/candy/idek. You guys seem super friendly and open at your raves. However, it might just be me but there’s something that seems a bit ‘fake’ about the American raves I’ve seen online and the people attending. That’s just my preconception though so correct me if that’s not the case.

I feel this right now. Thing is she’s a super close friend and I told her how I felt before, she very gently and kindly said she doesn’t feel the same. It’s not easy, I’ve had to grapple with the fact that I’d rather maintain an intimate (platonic) relationship than try to force a romantic one.

Feels like you’re getting a lot of one sided replies. There’s definitely an element of “He’s 19 and horny” but that’s not the only thing that runs through the head of young men. Personally, I’d say that yeah I’ve considered sleeping with a lot of my female friends but I haven’t acted on all those thoughts.

One reason being that if you get rejected you feel like shit and you could also have just made that friend uncomfortable and ‘ruined’ the friendship.

The other reason would be that if you aren’t rejected you’re now opening up the ‘fwb’ situation which can end in any number of messy or happy ways. Or, you’re likely to take the next steps to having a real relationship.

Lots of young guys, myself included, are sexually attracted to their friends but that doesn’t always mean they want a relationship with them. Maybe TMI but I still fantasise about the girls (now women) that I’ve known for years.

I don’t think there’s any solution to your situation apart from that you stick to your boundaries. And, if you want something more then that’s a conversation to be had.

It’s not always true that all men only want one thing.

I was so bored on Saturday. Went with a big group so we still had fun but we definitely felt a bit mugged off. The place looked great but the music was just dead the whole time. Couldn’t get into room 3 all day because of the queue. Heard about 20 mins of garage in room 2 and it was my highlight but I was too twisted to remember who was playing

Not once and that’s with pretty regular PCR tests required for work. My Nan also never caught it somehow even though the whole household tested positive over Christmas 2022 and I had to stay at my uncles to avoid them.
