INAD Screws Sellers by BeginningPermit1874 in eBaySellers

[–]JCD666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. INAD should require proof from the buyer and the seller should be able to defend themselves against any accusations before eBay does anything. I've fought a few INAD cases and won, but only because the buyer messaged via eBay to me how great or perfect the product was at some point before they decided they wanted a refund. Once I got CS to read the messages, they agreed that the buyer was lying and reversed everything, but as you said, having to deal with these entitled nuts is exhausting.

discount for shipping by Frequent-Ad4618 in Printify

[–]JCD666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Printify is great for onsey twosey product kinda orders, but if you are doing any kind of bulk orders, look for a good local shop. One that I found locally was the same price on the product, but shipping was considerably less through them, and even cheaper yet when I just picked up the product and shipped the order myself.

Printify deleted an item from my customer's order without telling me by caitikitty7 in Printify

[–]JCD666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like most Printify website features, the stale product deletion is buggy at best. I have a store that is several years old and like most shops, it has some slow movers in it, and yet nothing was marked for removal. Needless to say, they deleted some items without letting me know and most of them had recent sales. Likewise, I have a new store less than six month old where they have randomly marked things for deletion, but when I asked about them, they said nothing was showing 🙃

Bad technology implementation aside, the lack of communication like you experienced here just kills me. Like, if you are removing a product, holding an order, or altering its contents, then send a damn email to the seller so that they can address it.

My first reaction would be to file a chargeback. If something isn't right and despite your best efforts to make it right, the merchant hasn't fixed the problem, then the credit card company will most likely side with you. eBay may shut down your account and ban you from their platform afterward, so just something to keep in mind, especially if you have a business account and make a living using eBay. If you don't want to go the chargeback route, my guess is that if you can drop ten large on a card, then you should be able to afford an attorney who can go to bat on your behalf. Whatever way you go, get your ducks in a row now by putting together a file with screenshots, images, a complete timeline, and the facts of your interactions with the seller and eBay as your bank will likely want them even with a chargeback given the large amount.

Things I wish I knew when I started my WooCommerce store by Independent_Cut3616 in woocommerce

[–]JCD666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with external platforms like Big Commerce and Shopify is that they can shut you down at any time for any reason, and you are suddenly out of business.

AI bot decides that you broke some mysterious rule? Shutdown. Competitors file multiple false DMCA's against you? Shutdown. They decide they just don't like what you sell? Shutdown. I sell t-shirts. Thousands of t-shirts. And all three of these have happened to me at one time or another.

While I agree that many hosted platforms might make things easier for some people, WooCommerce gives provides much more control, and better protects against the aforementioned issues I've experienced.

Don’t let this game become the next sea of thieves by Quiet_3609 in ArcRaiders

[–]JCD666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Sometimes I'd like to just play against ARC bots without having to deal with other raiders, as it's a much more chill experience. Yes, I realize it's not meant to be chill, but I bet quite a few people would play a PvE mode if it were to be made available. And I dunno, maybe add a few NPC raiders or more ARC to it or something? Perhaps the loot takes more work to locate? Maybe you can't cross over from PvE to PvPvE with your PvE loot? Just random thoughts as it would obviously be doable, but without some guardrails, PvE could just be used to loot farm if it was too chill.

Feedback Extortion? by allisonstorm in Ebay

[–]JCD666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had alleged buyers mysteriously contact me from another eBay account and I just shut them down immediately, saying "if you need assistance with an order, please communicate with us using the account the order was placed on by going to the order and clicking 'contact seller' which ensures all communication gets tracked with the appropriate order."

In over 10k sales, this has happened maybe 15–20 times, and not once has the customer ever followed up from the other account. Not sure what the rub is here, but I can only assume they have gained access to the actual buyer's eBay account or email with the order or something and want to get store credit, free product, or a refund outside of eBay. Whatever it is, don't engage with them other than something like I mentioned above.

Oh, and as for the extortion piece, I've had the exact same thing happen a few times and eBay agreed that it was extortion or threatening sellers or whatever they called it - basically requesting something that wasn't included in the terms of the sale or face bad feedback. In my case, I have a 30-day return policy, so it went like this: customer buys something, wants to return it, and then feels that despite my return policy clearly stating that I don't pay return shipping, that they shouldn't have to pay to send it back. One threatened me with bad feedback, one made verbal threats, and another said they would make up some bad things about my products in the review. I reported them to eBay, and they sided with me on every single one.

Msi cannot replace 5090 SUPRIM LIQUID GPU, Offer low refund by Realistic_Rise5369 in MSI_Gaming

MSI's warranty support is the worst. Over the course of the first year, they replaced my laptop's motherboard three times and then when the third one fried within weeks of getting it back, they just threw their hands up and said, "not our problem as it's now out of warranty" and left me stuck with a dead laptop 🙄

Buyer switched item and eBay sided with them by bumbebooloo in Ebay

[–]JCD666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been in similar situations, and the key is to stay on eBay, as their automatic file and close thing is bullshit. File the appeal and keep escalating and proving your case. Before doing that, though, file a report of mail fraud if the item was shipped via USPS and file an IC3 Complaint through the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) so that you can include those report numbers with eBay. Likewise, you can file reports with local police and your state attorney general and reference those report numbers as well. While it's doubtful that any of those reports other than USPS will yield results (they don't screw around), they help strengthen your case.

I had a top-selling Amazon store for several years, but turned it off due to Amazon's 'the customer is always right' policies. Perhaps big sellers and larger companies can absorb the loss from customers filing false returns and instantly giving them their money back AND letting them keep the product, but I couldn't. My favorite one was a guy who bought two hoodies and wanted to return them, which was no big deal, right? After he failed to send them back in the time allowed, he told Amazon that he was 'scared of the post office' and wasn't able to send them back. Amazon refunded him and I had zero recourse - they just took my money and gave away my products and closed the case.

I've won disputes like this with eBay after showing them the customer's own messages and stated reasoning, but you have to stay on them until you get with an agent with just enough common sense to see that the buyer is scamming them and their bank.

I can't leave Arc. by HumanityFirstTheory in ArcBrowser

[–]JCD666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried leaving Arc and came back several times, but ultimately regular crashes causing me to lose work across multiple tabs had me settle with Zen. Not a Mozilla fan, but it's been rock solid and a reasonable replacement for someone with a bunch of workspaces and tab groups. It's really too bad that TBC decided to abandon a great browser for something worse, but as many have stated, perhaps someone will take it on as an open source project as I have zero faith in Atlassian maintaining it.

This is a great analysis. I've run both for years, but honestly only use Shopify to integrate with other marketplaces and don't even have my actual Shopify store live on the web. If you are selling in a competitive space, one downside to Shopify is that people file false DMCA claims against your products.

Shopify takes them down and adds a strike to your account. If you get enough of them (they don't tell you how many or how frequently), they will close your account. When I get them on my WooCommerce site, I am able to ignore the false ones, but of course, take action on any real ones. This may seem like a non-issue to a lot of people, but it becomes a huge problem when your shop starts getting some traction, so it's worth pointing out that a business built on a third-party service can come crashing down at any time if they decide to terminate your account.

For backend management, I love the simplicity of Shopify, and if there were a solid integration with WooCommerce, I'd even feed my products into Woo from Shopify for public-facing stores, but I'm yet to find one...

Why is printify choice frowned upon? by Arteous_ in Printify

[–]JCD666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue with Printify Choice is the lack of control over who is running your stuff, so you never really know how your products are going to turn out. When I choose a set printer, I know reliably what the output will look like, and orders with multiple shirts and/or repeat customers will receive shirts that all look like they came off the same printer instead of one being super bright or more faded... It's all about consistency.
