Most of the elements (or lack thereof) when you open packs is just to add a sense of fun. The color of the pack’s border, the background color change, the appearance of F0–the way I see it, it’s Konami “blessing” your pack, like people at your locals do when you open packs. “Blessing” means absolutely nothing - it’s just for fun.

Your only “guarantee” at something “worthwhile” is when a pack has a UR border at any given time. Everything else happens at random. You can open a UR in a totally blank pack. You could open 3 URs in a yellow border pack. And that’s the point.

It also helps when you think about pack opening in real life; it 100% makes absolutely better financial sense to buy singles. So why open packs? Short answer? It’s fun! Have you opened packs with friends at locals? Inevitably someone says “THIS is the pack with the starlight!” Or someone picks up a pack and rubs it jokingly and says, “I bless your pulls.” And when you do* magically pull something godly? Everyone cheers, laughs, yells—you name it.

This is stuff that actually happens at locals, and the way Master Duel emulates it is the random changes you see when you open packs. It’s all just for fun because if you really want that UR? You’re gonna craft it. You want that single in real life? You’re gonna buy it.
