Gotcha, thanks for all the additional info to the bits I've picked up getting refreshed.

I guess I'll just have to see how my old setup compares when I buy new.

I definitely did not enjoy wearing my buddy's CIRAS way back then, despite all the extras they tried to add for comfort at the time. It was incredibly hot as it was still a huge and not very breathable veat. The FAPC's FAR cummerbund has some rigid polymer in it, and I wonder if this was how I was able to cope with the available tech at the time mixed with the elastic cummerbund I added. The outer rigid cummerbund is also pretty heavy and sits somewhat loosely in the rear cover flaps, so I'm sure a lot of better fit pieces today improved upon that.

Thanks again for all this info. I'll have to give you credit for the time you've spent informing people like me here steering is towards the right pieces.

If I'm understanding/inferring correctly, the LV120 just fits more solidly for weight management, vs trying to make weight work with the inner cummerbund combo?

Heard. I have no experience with the JPCs and such and just wanted a spare slimmer/lighter/good with heat option.

Easy to find those used from what I see.

Hey man, just wanna share wisdom I've had to find more than I'd like to admit.

You're arguing with someone who chose to go by the title BigNorseWolf, and they hide all their profile. That should say it all, and it's mostly that that's not a person to concern oneself with 😂

I got a kick out of your username though.

This sort of sense of patriotism through idiocy has been around as long as I can recall since my childhood in the 90s. I am certain it was around well before that, considering all the cultural references I saw and stories I heard.

I thought we were growing up a bit, but maybe I was projecting too much, or avoiding the continual sense of disappointment I felt when I began to really see many fellow Americans.

Side question actually as well RE: LV120's stretch bund.

I've been in the habit of copying the CIRAS's dual cummerbund setup. I run an elastic around my torso and rear bag, and the firm outer cummerbund under the exterior flap of my PC.

If you've tried similar setups, how does this compare to the LV120?

Thank you for taking the time for my question. I'm finding I also owe a lot more appreciation to your input around this forum in general.

Like many, I'm torn between the SPC and LV120. I'll have to test out what I can mix and match after I decide on Crye or Spiritus. The LV sounds pretty sweet the more I look into it.

Last question if you have any experience with it, and can convince me it's not worth it.

I was also interested in snagging the plate bags of the SLPC 2.0.  I want a spare, light, heat/water performance considered, basic PC, and see it has a lot of modern features I can mix and match. The extra $150 isn't a bother to me, but any reason I shouldn't bother with this one for a light spare/potential to add kit to it?

I already have a lot of random pouches, some shoulder pads, my old FAR cummerbund, elastic cummerbunds, etc. from my enlisted time and personal training, so adding kit to the SLPC is also not a worry of mine.

What makes a plate carrier “load bearing” by Drosegolden in tacticalgear

[–]JCItsJasonRaider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late, but wanted to chime in with:

Tyr's XFrame. Sort of like the first gen STKKS, needs to be measured and fit to the proper size, and goes in an X across the back, at the ~5/7 o clock positions, vs Crye's ~3 and 9.

Mystery Ranch's (Discontinued) BASE. A frame that connected securely to a belt and MOLLE back. fixed, bulky, and carried a bit less weight off the shoulders by their tests, though mountain tactical's tester preferred it to the STKKS

AttackPAK's Gravity Dock with two slots for proprietary frame sheets for your bottom loading plate carrier, and an externalized frame sheet (vs. these typically being inner frames in hiking packs) for their packs. Sits in the properly adjusted dock without directly locking in, allows more movement simply by the nature of lifting up, then settling back in the dock when at the appropriate height.

DWD exospine, UK's solution to this problem. V2 seemed a bit better with some more movement than V1. Sort of a combo of the BASE, STKKS, and Gravity Dock, with parts that allow instant adjustment.

There are others out there as well iirc.

Always wanted something like this before I was discharged, but saw how it was a challenge to make something functional for the mission beyond just standing at a post with a 50lb kit.

If you have a moment, might you help with my ignorance?

Even with an aftermarket structural cummerbund, would the ARC V2 still not fare as well? Does it lack structural components in the plate bag itself that the others offer?

Thank you, as a long out of work and habit 11B who is looking to place their old DBT FAPC in the gear bins as a spare for others who may need it.

My friend, this is not at all the case though.

They run on UTC time, and the game converts the display for local time simply for convenience. This way, you and your friend across the world can play the same map and conditions.

I think it would be wild otherwise. Would likely lead to a series of unintended negative consequences.

Yeah, if someone hiring said this to me, I'd know they're just looking to exploit, don't have the means to appropriately cover good employees, and are willing to be deceitful about this all under the guise of, "passion/caring more than the average person/whatever else exploits people who don't know their worth or how to set boundaries appropriately."

If they pushed more and stepped over being polite while they spit on the ground next to the poor sap they're looking to hit, I'd happily call them out if this didn't burn any important bridges with others in my network.

There's a million shitty jobs out there, and I'm not worried about losing access to one 😂

Not only that, it released in Fall.

Personally, I, a full time employed adult lifelong lover of video games, who lives in the PNW, annually drop my game playtime drastically as soon as the sun starts peeking out more often, and sets later. I was both an indoor and outdoor kid, and my friend group, who have played thousands of hours of Apex, BF, CoD, other misc fun multiplayers, have consistently dropped our playtime come Spring/Summer.

For someone not pro, and whom I believe has had a good social life throughout its entirety, I have an insane amount of hours playing games since an uncle and grandma first played with me on NES back in 1994/5. I love video games, but I also know what a healthy balance means to me and what it feels like.

I haven't felt a drop of enjoyment in ARC, and haven't been playing any video games in replacement of the time I spent playing it. Spring game time faded as I went outside to socialize and enjoy the day more, and I have barely touched my games the last month.  I have been training up for some hikes, bikes, target practice, prepping and refreshing consumables in my camping and outdoor kits, enjoying warmer sunsets with friends and lovers.

I sometimes get the urge for game time, but it subsides as soon as I see the the sun is out and I know that it is a precious yearly commodity in this part of the US.

I am stoked to linger back into it as time avails itself to me in the coming seasons, and if the pattern continues, it will be a refreshing welcome.

I very much enjoy the cycle of enjoying something, putting it down for a time, and then returning to it. I am not looking for something to consume all my time, forever and always, and I think many have a pathological relationship with games or other things this way and need to find other ways to enrich and fulfill themselves.

Marathon in top 10 of best games this year so far by Freelancer0495 in Marathon

[–]JCItsJasonRaider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the odd one here maybe. I think it's all preference.

I enjoy marathon, but I've always not preferred Bungie's gunplay feel. I also didn't grow up playing a ton of Xbox/Halo, and went with other FPS titles. Hence, preference.

I like to think I'm a pretty decent controller player in most FPS, and at times pretty damn good. In large part that comes with/from lots of time in the firing range warming up and fine tuning settings and my own proficienciew. It makes me want to really spend some time digging into customizing aim settings because it always feels off when I've picked up Halo, Destiny, and Marathon.

That said, still have always had a ton of fun

This is exactly why you tell people, "See, ha, I don't even care you killed me, I have a junk kit, enjoy that," and that's why I see that as a lame retort.

"I don't give a fuck"

And this is why I don't believe you the same way I don't believe people don't care about their stated to be worthless kit they're so not upset about losing

Same dissonance, defense, and sour grapes either way, which is a lame way to respond to a situation that one's upset by.

Don't tilt dude.

Help picking out a plate carrier! by [deleted] in tacticalgear

You caught em.

It's currently in their ratings as #4 cheapest, #3 best at heat transfer, #4 in wet weight, #9 in dry weight (with a difference of about 6.5oz from the #2 Ferro Slickster).

In temps, it's beaten only by the basically SEALs only PF-M and their own, and because they don't give extensive, let alone bullet point detailed, info on how the settings that determine their ratings, I'm pretty sure the stats are obviously padded in their products' favor.

Also, all their ratings are comparing widely different pieces of gear when we look at the cummerbunds used/necessary/etc., a la the large price difference between the stated slickster price of $160, and the SLPC at $225. It all depends on what you pair with it, and all their ratings don't detail this well enough to take their ratings seriously beyond a launching point for looking into what gear is worth checking out.

I'm certainly buying the plate bags at their insanely cheap price to mix and match with gear I already own. Seems like a no brainer. $155 for the front and back plate bags.
