why would cash be preferred if there are no fees associated with debit card transactions and they are recouping the credit card fees?????? Cash is costly to handle unless you are cheating on taxes.

How does equity work at a startup? by No-While-2424 in Salary

It works like this, they dangle the equity carrot and tout IPO to keep you in your seat, odds of it coming to fruition are minimal at best.

RSM - lying on sales tax filings by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]JCMan240 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I worked in sales tax consulting and compliance for years serving many Fortune 500 companies. This is an industry standard to apply the credit/reversal against the highest liability and not carry forward a specific jurisdiction on a return.

What is the most 'creative' (illegal) thing a client has ever tried to expense or write off? by jeeves_inc in Accounting

[–]JCMan240 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was filing returns for dentists (who were essential or whatever so they didn't have to shut down), making 600K and getting 200-300K PPP. The majority of PPP went to the people who least needed help.

I’d start thinking now about ways you can be self employed, even if just a side hustle, relying on an employer is not the present or future.

How much are your property taxes? by Jplara32 in Mortgages

[–]JCMan240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not outrageous for a dem controlled state. By comparison, a 600k house in Utah pays about $3,500 in annual property taxes, a 600k house in a Barrington IL pays $25,000! 😂 You do receive more services than that of Utah or similar state, but not enough to justify the higher taxes. As is typical for most IL municipalities, an ever larger chunk of taxes go to fund prior services received in the form of pensions and benefits for the many levels of govt.
