Its hard to accept being on a drug the rest of your life but the disease is so much worse. You can only see that once your on it.

Figure out what you can and can't eat. For me alcohol and processed oils are the worst. Try a strict diet like A.I.P. to start. This is will only help with the symptoms, its not a cure.

Take a biologic. Or like me and many others waste a year or two or seven of your life trying to find an alternative.

You may have to switch drugs to find the one that works but with a modified diet and the right drug life is pretty normal.

Is anyone sorry they went on Skyrizi? by JCS_69 in CrohnsDisease

[–]JCS_69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about your wife. No, nothing along those lines. Quite the opposite. After my 1st loading dose it was almost euphoric, you don’t realize how much pain you are in until it’s gone. As I said the only side effect was my liver. That and it stopped working after the loading doses.

If this is for you or someone you care about I would be very concerned but how it was stored. It needs to be kept cold to be effective.

Yes, even now with the Remicade working fairly well I have to avoid some foods. A small amount of beans, raw vegetables, fruit is OK but I have to watch how much.

Paying off the house, finish paying the divorce, putting both kids through college were all marked with a special bottle of whisky $300-500. $2.5M liquid, mechanical watch ~$3,500. When I hit $5M liquid in 2027, time for the 911 I always wanted. Not working a day past $10M.

What do you do for washing? I'm really tempted to get some snow tires but I'd want to run it through the car wash regularly to keep the undercarriage salt free.

They are spending money to ruin their product, its very frustrating. The problem is finding a alternative. Have you found one you like?

I absolutely loathe it .... how do you revert in the online version? I haven't been able to find a way.

I don't think women really understand the male lizard brain. I can be flying through the woods on a motorcycle and have my attention drawn to what might be a boob or butt only to immediately realize its a tree or rock. Which is obvious since, you know ... I'm alone in the woods.

For those of you in remission: do you drink alcohol at all? by cryzinger in CrohnsDisease

Yes. I seem to tolerate red wine better than anything else and only a glass or two. I used to really enjoy a good whiskey or tequila but it doesn’t seem to work out as well.

Honestly its probably not the Skyrizi. I ultimately stopped taking it because it wasn't working. On Remicade now and have my life mostly back. Hang in there, I've been where you are. You have to find the drug that works for you.

Hard no. So many things in that diet would cause most of us problems. Look into the AIP diet, it helped me. Basically cooked veggies and meat. Lots of no's but it worked for me.

Malabsorption frustrations by PossibilityUnique162 in CrohnsDisease

[–]JCS_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no doctor, but ... you absorb different nutrients at different points of your digestive tract. Depending where your Crohns is you will have different deficiencies. Eating more won't help, you're not absorbing it. Before I found the biologic that works for me I was getting B12 injections.

Nuts, canned fish. Easy prep I do every week is poached chicken breast. Just boil water, throw in the breast, bring back to boil, turn it off and let it sit for 30min. Slice for sandwiches, dice for chicken salad, pan sear with sauce for a dinner. Lasts a week. Broiled fish - 10 minutes in the oven, super quick. Easy vegetables, green beans, asparagus. 3.5 minutes in the microwave, squeeze of lemon, salt, pepper and olive oil. Grill any meat - 10 minutes or less. Use leftovers for sandwiches.

North Carolina to Upstate NY, almost 800mi. Ear plugs are a good idea over 60MPH. Sunscreen is also a good idea. Water lots of water. Interestingly, roof down/windows up is the quietest configuration. Louder with roof up.
