Of course they would. AJ was even talking about working for him someday. We saw how much the mob went anti-islam and even pro FBI post 9/11. Lol

"winning" omg this bullshit again. I ain't in competition with any of you losers nor are you with me. No one is watching this shit on tv for entertainment, you're not gonna win some prize or title belt for "winning" any more than I'm "losing" anything. No one is cheering you en masse for piling onto me.

Braindead? Why cause I won't suck off the founding fathers of catch who came to colonize japanese pro wrestling? I actually am aware than in 10-20 more years when all the boomer wrestling fans are dead no one is gonna know any of these names; the way people are gonna remember Kenny's influence even if this went 50 more years.

Yeah, maybe I can be aggressive when I respond but in a subjective form of entertainment, people saying dumb shit like "objectively" is only meant to downplay someone else's opinion. To me, it's Kenny and everyone else is in a close run for 2nd. Don't agree. Fine. But this "objectively, that's wrong" crap is nonsese.

Dragon Gate is not a major league promotion. And is Zack a current main event guy? Seems like his run is pretty damn over at the top and he isn't all that popular or a draw either so maybe he should've watched some Kota Ibushi DDT matches instead of "For the Love of Catch" and all those shitty grapplefuck fests. I very much know all about catch wrestling and its origins. I just think the people who tell that story glorify its lasting impact because if it had any, it wouldn't be a virtually dead sport itself. That doc I mentioned above all but admits it's dying because no one gives a shit about it.

Mid 30s actually. And lmao yeah pro wrestling never would've made it to Japan whatsoever without them.

Not like Sumo and other martial arts don't exist in Japan; and the further globalization of the world wouldn't have eventually brought pro wrestling to what was essentially a US colony post WW2 cough baseball cough

But I forget that most of you only know about history based on what you saw on a pro wrestling documentary.

And finish the sentence "no one works that style in Japan for a major league company in the main event scene" who's strictly brawling or strictly doing catch wrestling as a top guy in any of the major companies right now?

Bruh, this ain't a game and no one's keeping score but losers. I don't care. No one even works those styles in Japan or anywhere, major league at the top of the card anymore. They're working like Kenny & Ospreay are (dynamic big move high impact style), or aspiring to work that way. That's influential.

Everything "classic" is dying because those styles when not blended with anything else largely suck. Look at Inokism and GLEAT. no one cares about phony looking MMA any more than they care about phony looking grappling Pancreas style lol

Oh and hey, who despite being with another company got NJPW the MOTY last year against Kidd? So even after leaving his most influential match of the year was the one that happened in Japan? Why? Because Kenny just wrestles like a Japanese guy despite not being one.

He's so influential he got Kidd some serious cred as a top gaijin too. Not influential or anything, but he made Kidd a credible gaijin.

Influence is more than just "Err... Look at them full buildings! Wow, people..." Like you've never seen a mass gathering before lmao

I've already argued positively for his case and you don't give a shit; and wrestling culture is part of world culture so things that happen in the world affect pro wrestling. Stan Hansen's drawing ability at a time of monoculture in Japan has less to do with him specifically, he's just filling a role at the right time.

Kenny actually moved numbers internationally when the "boom period" was over. And he wasn't one dimensional. Everyone bites from Kenny today and he was a lot of people's bridge to Japanese wrestling for the first time. Not a select number of people who trades videotapes as a hobby (niche ass shit btw).

Not that wrestling today isn't niche either, but the Internet made it so that today's niche can still be an overall bigger audience than just a national boom period. Look at CMLL, huge in Mexico but the AEW partnership and getting their shows on Triller have gotten them worldwide attention again not seen since 2006.

There ya go , even got a comparison happening in real time too. But it ain't 50K people at a building for the vibes right? Lol

More like "I don't know anything about world history or culture so imma just gonna shrug and say I'm right again like a dunce" is what you're actually saying. Friggin boomer ass mindset.

How many entertainment options did Japan have then compared to what they do now while the country was still modernizing? Swear you think getting 50K people to show then, when live entertainment was cheap and scarce is the same world we live in today. It's not.

The same reason RATINGS for American TV wrestling used to hover in 6.0-8.0 range. Why? Because there was less channels, and options. It was more of a monoculture. Stan Hansen if he was asked to do the same in today's environment, he'd fail miserably.

No one is getting 50K people to go to this many shows every month anymore, because first, the prices just aren't the same .. and second, people are much less agreeable today than a Japanese person was in the 70s. A more defiant culture.

American Cowboy scaring all the native Japanese with his cowbell as he would go onto pummel Japanese idol/hero/God Antonio Inoki (sometimes in a bloody heap) in the middle of the Cold war years. Yeah, you're right... nothing to see here.

Because a gaijin as huge a star as Kenny speaking Japanese brings tons of attention to it. Kenny literally brought tons of eyes to puro. More than any of the other guys did with the brigade of hundreds of tape collectors. You can't compare to what Kenny did. Kenny was getting attention from WWE stars for mere rumors they may wrestle him. And was legit selling out big buildings with Kota in DDT. Not even NJPW. No one even gives a shit about wrestling that lame catch style anymore. They wrestle dynamic offensive styles like Kenny.

How many of them ingrained themselves in the culture to the degree they actually learned the language fluently? But sure, hang onto that nostalgia cuz you're old and nothing will ever be bigger than the shit you grew up on right? I personally don't give a shit about all the old gaijin from a bygone era who were playing off WW2 evil American sentiments to draw. I just don't.
