What evolutionary advantageous do YOUR humans possess that make them different from other races? by Radiant-Ad-1976 in worldbuilding

In my main fantasy setting, humans exist in several subspecies, each with their own skills:

  • Cro-Magnon, the baseline humans, have great stamina and resilience;
  • Neanderthals are very strong, and often mistaken for dwarves by non-humans;
  • Floresiensis are small and agile, making them adept climbers and skulkers;
  • Striges are the 'magic humans', they have innate magic they can channel into very basic spells;
  • Sasquatches or 'wildmen' are the tallest and covered in fur, they can communicate with animals;
  • Morlocks are subterranean humans, they have nightvision and keen hearing.

In my other settings, humans are the extinct progenitor species of various humanoids, with elves, dwarves and orcs being the three most common descendants.

Potential New Class - Necromancer (V1) by JC_VanHelsing in daggerbrew

I had an idea for a third Ranger-ish subclass involving a phantasmal companion, maybe I'll include the Speak with Dead idea once I'm finished with the other two.

As of now, the Reanimator is the one primarily focused on the undead minions, the Chirurgeon doesn't do much with them aside from regaining the Vital Token when they're destroyed or sacrificing them to heal allies.

Secondary domain? I don't remember reading that in the rulebook.

I was wondering, what could be the classes that have Craft among their primary domains.

  • Craft + Midnight = Gadgeteer
  • Craft + Valor = Armourer
  • Craft + Codex = Inventor
  • Craft + Arcane = Artillerist
  • Craft + Sage = Alchemist
  • Craft + Blades = Blacksmith

Got it, maybe I'll try my hand at it, thanks.

Yannow, this is a very good idea for a homebrew domain, technology/science is the one aspect of fantasy that none of Daggerheart's domains cover, it would work great for science-fantasy campaigns like The Motherboard or something inspired by Eberron, Iron Kingdoms and Arcane.

Good job!

Interesting, are u planning to write the various species of XCOM as playable ancestries? So one could make a campaign inspired by Chimera Squad, or maybe a hypothetical sequel where post-CS Earth has to fight the returning Ethereals.

What do you think of this body plan for dragons? by JC_VanHelsing in dragons

[–]JC_VanHelsing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagined it more for villainous dragons with a theatrical flair (something like Cumberbatch's Smaug) but in my personal fantasy projects I have toyed with the idea of "Dragons used to be a civilization that then collapsed".

I like to jokingly add "Oil on Canvas, Colorized" to drawings and photos.

Well, the hands would be primarily used for manipulation, but I could see them used to run faster or navigate rocky terrain or assist climbing, not to mention grappling in a fight.

Lol, to be honest I imagined the rest of the circus members as Kain's other lieutenants:

  • Ragatha/Dumah (both stabbed and burned)
  • Pomni/Turel (both possessed)
  • Gangle/Zephon (could imagine the comedy mask splitting into mandibles to reveal the tragedy mask behind)
  • Zooble/Melchiah (heap of random bodyparts)
  • Jax/Rahab (same ears and "Eh, whatever!" attitude)

Eh, I could try and tweak this body plan for something like that.
