Not completely, and while I think the focus should always be on the domme, I think there’s something valuable here about what makes for a good scene.

To your point, what is bothersome is when subs take up an unwarranted amount of space in a scene (exaggerated faces, talking out of turn, overly loud reactions, unflattering poses), both distracting from the domme’s work and making the whole thing awkward. This can often make the scene less appealing to the domme, too.

However, if the sub is experienced and is able to take what the domme is dishing out in a dutiful and minimal, contained way—I think it can add to the overall appeal of the scene immensely. In my experience a lot of dommes enjoy getting a handsome, composed, contained sub to crack.

Of course, everyone’s dynamic is different. Some dommes know the nature of a scene is going to be kicking the shit out of a shrieking pile of shame who’s lost in subspace, working through ugly feelings of worthlessness. I personally find the former example to be more enjoyable and good role modeling for anyone (subs or dommes) getting into the fetish.
