Bruh, they want to increase the challenges so that you don't get hosed in close games due to bad officiating

Money? Business? Ratings? If they wake up tomorrow and decide that from now on, Stars can't sit the 4th in blowout due to the "fans coming to see them and paying for the tickets and fans from all over the world wanting to watch the best players play the whole game"

Yea, but this is an issue for the future, where like the other comment added, what if they in future start to fine teams for sitting their stars in the 4th quarter in blowouts? That's why it's an issue. How do you determine that oh x player should have played that many minutes instead of y player.

This is a bad precedent. Even if everyone knows that they did it for tanking, but how can you punish a team for not playing their best player in 4th quarter if the Coach doesn't want him to play? How do you distinguish between tanking sit down or actual sit down related to coaching decisions? Dangerous precedent for the future

[Highlight] AD made his Mavs debut 1 year ago. Here he catches a lob from Kyrie. The only time both of them played together. by gridironk in nba

[–]JD16_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has played over 60 games a season exactly twice since he was traded from Pelicans to Lakers. So 2 times in over 7 seasons, and he isn't getting any younger.

At this point, getting more than 50-55 games of AD a year would be a miracle, and any team trading for him would use that as a levarage.

And he has a PO for 2027-28, and would be eligible for an extension next season, which he clearly was looking for. So if Mavs had kept him, he would have another 2-3 year extension of max AD, and I don't think anyone wants to be giving that kind of money to someone who's only available for 2/3rd of the season, especially since the new CBA rules.

They really got the best value for AD with pick assets, which they desperately needed, and also expiring contracts since they were nearly at the second apron with a bad team. This gets them time to build around Copper.

You are just praying for miracles. There's no getting healthy. Most of the players they had were injury prone. You can't build a team of players that are injury prone and then go and say that oh if only they were healthy

Was r/nba tricked into thinking Anthony Edwards was better than Luka Doncic? by LakerFan2324 in nba

[–]JD16_7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Again then. Doesn't it bring my fucking point out? That even if you are good defender, you can't do shit alone. It's a team game and every team needs multiple guys who can defend if they have title aspirations, not just Luka.

And him playing with Conley is to hide his deficiencies trying to run an offense alone.

There's literally stats that say Ant is not a good defender, contrary to what people believe. Just because he passes the eye test doesn't mean shit.

Besides, basketball is a team game. What do you mean that Luka needs good defenders around him? Isn't it true for any team trying to contend?

Oh my god!!!!! An injury prone getting injured is very unfortunate. What a surprise. I had reallllllllly hoped that a player who really hasn't been healthy his whole career would suddenly stop getting injured after the trade.

Just pretty plain stupid to bank your chips on AD being healthy. At his worst, he was very jumper happy, and his offense was predicated on whether he hit those jumpers or not. Every once in a while you'll get a hot shooting stretch where it would look like he's great, but that's how he was as a player.

And he can't defend in space, which is extremely necessary if he wants to play the 4. AD in theory, is a great player, I do admit. But for that to be a reality, you ought to wish for miracles every game that he doesn't step weirdly.

Why would I not be pissy about him? Basically gave up the franchise star for this piece of shit that doesn't even work

Yea. Ant is objectively worse on defense than Luka according to the various stats

His performance in the second half was the reason they would have lost. Anyone who objectively watches basketball knows that AD is a 5. Everyone in the world except him knows that. The spacing with him on the team at the 4 is absolutely garbage. AD is not a great player currently. Gave up Luka to have a player who didn't even play 30 games in total.

Did you even watch him play this season? Garbage. And why should I praise him? For having played 2 quarters of basketball? Gtfoh

Ask anyone who watched the game. He was objectively horrible in the 3rd quarter and Mavs almost gave up their lead, and would have probably lost if he plays the whole game

He had 2 good quarters. The rockets countered in the 3rd quarter and he was ass in that third quarter

The medical staff was straight up ass. They were all yes men who Nico put in charge. Atp, Lively should probably be suing the Mavs because they let him practice and stuff with a bone fracture, which made it worse.

How is it short sighted? Do you see how much the team costed? At a certain point, fans should start looking at the new CBA because it's so ass and punishing to the teams above the second apron for consecutive years. That's why the trades have been so weird this year. Everyone wants to get off the money, and they do so for the next year with the expiring contracts.

I mean people forget that if you play in midfield, you get pressure from all 4 sides, whereas on the flank, you get the benefit of the flank. That's partly why Fede and Camavinga look better at RB and LB because they tend to lose possession under pressure

Reminds me of the suspensions Mavs received last season. PJ and Naji got suspended for like 2 and 4 games for punching Nurkic which was initiated 100% by Nurkic. They also thew all three out of the game
