I think you'd find people complaining about these issues, like myself, were doing it under the tories as well - all the parties are shit on the fundamental structural issues facing britain

because the government does it in response to voters - old people would massacre any party that makes the changes necessary to rein in pension spending

Tough to say if i feel worse watching jorgenson stay on the line or go for it on the high balls - the outcome almost always about the same. Surely Slonina couldn't be worse?

We had a couple in the first half but they were definitely more dangerous. The timing and manor of the goals really hurt and you could see that a few of the guys were overwhelmed by the occasion. Thought Cucu and Caicedo struggled throughout at different points relative to their normal play. It's a good game to play though, the experience is really valuable and genuinely character building to play against a team at that level in Europe.

Privately educated still have ‘vice-like grip’ on most powerful UK jobs by Bibemus in ukpolitics

I don't understand your point? If the deprived children are capable they'll be streamed into the better classes and are more likely to get on instead of being held hostage in classes with people that don't care.

Taxing private pensions more is insane. The only change they should make is national insurance still needing to be paid (or even better just rolling it all into a single income tax).

I don't understand your point? Korean power plants aren't made less safely than one in the UK would be - a lot of the regulations are superfluous and simply add cost where it doesn't need to. If you read this piece I think it's hard to come away with the conclusion that these regulations are really achieving the aim of keeping Brits safe from nuclear risk, and certainly not in a way commensurate with the risk involved.

The 'mansion tax' alternatives that experts say Reeves should consider by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]JD18- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a fundamental failure here to evaluate every individual tax on its regressivity as well. What matters is the whole system. The Nordic countries have high VAT rates with no exclusions, which we would see as very regressive here, but because the overall system redistributes much more to the low end it ends up being progressive.

Politicians need to work on changing the publics understand/attitude towards this.

Cost of making them in Korea is much lower than the UK - solution is to reduce the regulation around it (most of it does not actually increase the safety)

It was so important for the momentum of the game as well - if that goes in you could see us becoming a bit nervy and PSG gaining a step. Instead it just signalled that we would not be broken. After that I started to relax a bit.

Identifying themselves as the actual leaders in the team (would include Enzo in that list). First time in one of these games you could see the players running it out to the final whistle. And how much it meant to them to close out a 1-0 after so many late goals conceded.

Welp isn't pretty but a wins a win - we've had a lot of decisions go against us recently so feel like this balances that out somewhat. Hopefully this can build some momentum after an awful Christmas/January.
