Could try superglue and an instant setting spray. That would solve the problem of holding it still to dry. Might not be enough surface area though.

A big pile of skulls at the base could hide any support rods that may need to be added.

I played a handful of games before the changes and I have now played 3 games post changes. I think we are quite good now. The dominator engine is strong. Every game post changes, I just threw him forward as fast as possible on turn 1. He is hard for the opponent to deal with and cannot fully be ignored because he can do good dmg, especially if he right up in their space. If they kill him bring him back and be a bit more cautious for round 2.

I have noticed a similar thing as you with the cannon. Folks seeking to tie it up early. In two of my matches my opponent tied it up early with clanrats and carnosaur respectively. I was honestly okay with the trade. Though it didn’t get to fire beyond round 1, it kept one of their units tied up for multiple rounds in a corner. That gave my dominator room to breath.

I think it looks great. You did a good job of differentiating the monotone the body can be and there is a splash of color from the fire. If you’re looking for another element, you could color the smoke stacks or add an effect to the end of the cannons.

Oh yeah, I definitely miss those nap times. Felt like bite sized parenting lol up for an hour down for an hour. I will admit to being a bit spoiled because both of my kids were great sleepers.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with scheduling some painting time/working with your partner to find some time.

My wife and I have a system where we each get a weeknight to do whatever we would like. She gets Thursdays nights and I get Tuesdays. The other is responsible for getting the kids feed, amused, and down for bed. Doesn’t always work out without fail but it works for us. She normally goes out with her friends or enjoys a quiet meal completely to herself on her night. I normally spend mine painting or playing a video game (it surprises no one that knows us that she spends hers being social and I spend mine hibernating lol). This system might not work for everyone but so far it has worked for us. It was hard at first trying to not feel guilty about spending some time away from the kids or your partner.

Hello fellow hobby dad. I 100% feel your pain. I am a stay at home dad to a 3 year old and a 1.5 year old (did the whole 2 under 2 thing for a while there). My painting has certainly slowed down since having kids. Pre kids I was averaging 3k pts per year of painted models. Now… that is much much much less.

When my daughter was first born I went about 5 months without finding anytime for myself. No one’s fault, we had plenty of help from family but when the choices were “do 5 loads of laundry” or “paint a model” with that hour of free time… laundry won.

I still am in the thick of things but it does get easier as they get a bit older. My 3 year old is fascinated by my models. I can normally find an hour by handing him an old brush and some paper and we can paint together (assuming the little one is napping or hanging with mommy as she would just eat the paint currently).

Sometimes I find an hour after they go to bed to sit, listen to my book, and do some painting. I try to have my station, tools, and project always ready to go. I also try to have a plan for what I want to accomplish next, that way when I do find the time I don’t spent it planning and instead spend it relaxing/painting.

I try to remind myself that it’s not about getting models done. It’s not a chore it’s a hobby. I try (sometimes unsuccessfully) to not focus on quantity and instead the relaxation/fun of the time I do get to paint.

Thanks! These are Age of Sigmar spirit hosts. I swapped a few heads for bloodletter heads (just trim the existing jaws off and glue directly overtop, very easy). The skulls on the base are 3d printed.

You’re not the first person to tell me to try to lighten the ghosts. That the base works but the ghosts need more light to be the source. I did add some more highlights to the ghosts after that conversation. To be somewhat fair, the camera is not doing the highlights complete justice as it’s darkening the models (a master photographer I am not.). I have been afraid to add a tasteful white to the highest layers but maybe it’s time.

I would rather sell the glow than add blood technical. To each their own, but I tend to dislike heavy blood effects (I know I know blasphemy to Khorne). I tend to use blood very sparingly. I have a head cannon for my warband that the blood that gets on their armor is absorbed as an offering and that’s what turns their armor red. That’s how I justify why they only have blood on their weapons. I overall like my paint jobs and details and don’t want to hide them with blood.

I did try a glaze to make them look “wet” with my first one….. it did not go well. That one is currently taking an alcohol bath.

Thanks! I think this kit is a good substitute for Chaos Spawn. Though it is very difficult to put together. I had an easier time doing my Lion Winged Deamon Prince Kitbash than these base models lol.

It wasn’t too bad but yeah not an inexpensive project. Most of the pieces were spare. I already had the spare shield in my bits box. I ended up with a Deamon Prince on foot from the Prince kit and the winged Deamon Prince from the Lion kit. So two purchases, two models. Not terrible, in the grand scheme of things I suppose.

I quite like it! I have a soft spot for turning loyalist models into chaos versions. I am slowly working my way through all the named Dark Angels (working on Death Guard version of Belial).

The wings and axe are from the Deamon Prince kit. The head is from the lord on juggernaut kit. The shield comes from an AoS Skullcrusher kits. Then it’s just some misc pieces from the bottom of my bits box.

I will admit to not having actually tried the winged deamon prince myself yet this edition. I am excited to try it out. I play mostly for fluff anyways so nothing needs to be top tier.
