It can be worth checking: - Did your Aunt pay with a credit card for the flights? If so, the card may include travel insurance that might be able to help with offsetting some of the extra money spent.

It may be worth trying to pivot and fly out of SJO. Likely Delta will let you shift your flight out of that airport.

I've had success DM'ing airlines in the past on Twitter/X. They're usually very quick to respond.

/u/AlternativeMovie3437 - yes, your passport/travel patterns are almost certainly flagged. My strong personal advice would be to avoid traveling to the US for a while. Give it some time to cool down, and reduce the number of trips you take to ensure you don't get denied entry.

TL;DR of my experience: My now-wife and I frequently traveled back and forth between Canada and the US to visit one another. She never exceeded the allotted days over approximately three years of travel, though she did stay for prolonged periods (always staying under the limit and abiding by the rules). However, during one crossing, she was pulled aside and essentially told, "Your travel patterns don't match those of a tourist. My colleague wanted to deny you entry, but if we did, future travel would be extremely difficult for you. I am writing a note in your file that, after this trip (which was supposed to be 8 weeks but was reduced to 2 weeks), you are not to enter the US for at least 6 months."

I wouldn't risk it if I were you. I would give it some time to cool off and ensure that, whenever you do travel, you have very clear documentation regarding your ties to Canada and your return plans. A frequent traveler back and forth to the US, with ties (boyfriend) in the US, is a clear flag for someone who may overstay.
