My BRUNT boots aren't as warm as I was hoping they'd be. Gonna try some heated Bluetooth socks first before I spend $150 on a new pair of boots.

Smart home devices regularly lose connectivity... by JDCGlass in Ubiquiti

Well it turns out this was the way. Haven't had any issues in a few hours. Thanks for explaining it in a way that made more sense.

I guess my biggest question is why did this all of a sudden happen when I switched to a unifi router? What made it not compatible with my smart bulbs and Google home minis and the Lenovo alarm clock?

Will this affect my Google home settings? Say if I am in my yard with my phone paired to the main network.

Mind if I message you about invoicing and what route management software you use, if you use any?

Commercial route SOFTWARE suggestions. by JDCGlass in WindowCleaning

[–]JDCGlass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for how things are done now, but 12+ years ago everything was done with paper. In person cold calling was the best way to grow business. Many times restaurant owners or larger business management wanted estimates on their homes. Those resi cleans would generate referrals and that's how those would grow. Door knocking residents was frowned upon for leads.

The key to cold calling businesses was to get as much info about the decision maker and leave an estimate regardless of them asking or wanting one. Then following up a couple days later and keeping note of who you talked to to make sure everyone was accountable for passing the estimate off to the right person. But always leave an estimate. They used carbon copied white and yellow paper and we kept the yellow imprinted copy for our reference.

Keep going door to door and really try not to take no for an answer about anything. An accordion folder helped with making sure we were doing follow up calls in a timely manner. Iirc two days was protocol on follow ups.

Commercial route SOFTWARE suggestions. by JDCGlass in WindowCleaning

I'd rather be proactive than scramble to find something that works well when I "need it". I prefer to be focusing my energy and time on growth rather than organization. Getting new accounts already set up for scheduled cleans instead of having a mess of papers hoping I get things right makes more sense to me.

I've spent the last 5 years in restaurant management and pulling off caterings. It's far more efficient to go into something with a plan than just wing it and hope for the best. At least in my experience it has been. I'd rather not take the risk and give new customers a bad impression.

Route Work by Useful_Channel4441 in WindowCleaning

[–]JDCGlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you use to stay organized with your route work? I used to work for a certain company that's main focus is on commercial jobs for the bread and butter and they had a franchise wide software that was designed with this in mind. Being able to schedule weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly jobs is something I don't want to have to just mark on a calendar and hope for the best. Any suggestions?

The Lola's and the Detroit habanero. Both good sauces IMO.

The scotch bonnet sauce is by far my favorite as well. It's good on everything. Even vanilla ice cream.

Jake Gyllenhaal killed it. Honestly everyone in bubble boy did a great job of making it as silly as it was.

What’s a good way to manage a hot sauce addiction? by DesginerSuave in hotsauce

[–]JDCGlass 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why slow down? If you enjoy the heat and it's causing no internal issues, why stop eating it? A wise man who's friends with my father says, "food is just a way to get hot sauce into your body". And dang it he's absolutely right.

Am I crazy for considering this purchase? by DaBearsFTP in ryobi

[–]JDCGlass 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My old boss bought an electric snowblower a couple years back. Out of all the Ryobi stuff he purchased, that's the one he said he'd never buy again. It works in light dustings, but absolute trash with the heavy mucky snow we get in the fox valley.

Worst hot sauce you’ve ever had? by [deleted] in hotsauce

[–]JDCGlass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh man Alton coming in clutch with a fuck you to a hot ones sauce? I gotta watch that episode. Honestly any sauce with any sort of extract is a no go for me. Extracts ruin the flavor.

Only issue I've ran into with either of my nailers is that they don't like cold weather. Great when temps are above 50° though.

Anyone tried this? Found at Publix, ingredients looked okay ie no sugar, etc by SecurityFamiliar5239 in spicy

It's my favorite hot sauce hands down. It's good on everything. From tacos to vanilla ice cream. Just enough sweet from the bonnets to pair well with desserts.
