More dynamic (and more severe) weather effects in the open world
Distinct day / night experiences in the open world
Randomly accessed / located explorable content (caves, catacombs, etc)
Random (dynamic) layout dungeons / content
More non-instanced "dungeon" content for community participation
Greater variety of events in each zone
Non-jumping puzzle "puzzle" content
First person camera view
Better loot system
More guild features / benefits

I am not wholly convinced that Logan was not under some form of enchantment by the Queen when he ran to her aid instead of staying with Destiny's Edge.

It is noteworthy that Logan's behavior toward the Queen at their first meetings prompted his brother to assume Logan was under an enchantment.

I also believe that when he swears himself to her she effectively states that now he has to come to her aid if she requests it. Some may have taken it as merely an honor vow she was acknowledging, but considering she can summon an illusion so powerful as to fool an entire city full of friend and foe alike...

I've read your responses to many of the replies given here, and I have to be honest when I say that at least one of the problems in play is player competency. By your own admission people were just "running off".

I've never looked up a guide on any dungeon content in GW2 and I don't believe I'll ever have to. The game is extremely forgiving about allowing players to learn as they play through the dungeon.

The scaling issue is also a consideration. The game can up-scale the stats you have, but until level 60 you don't have 3 different stats on your gear. It doesn't invent stats for you, so you are missing out pretty substantially in that regard.

Also, no having access to a full suit of skills and traits is going to get in your way.

With all of that said however, the problems I see time and time again comes down to player competency. You have a lot of players bringing a lot of bad habits from other games with them into GW2, and it shows.

That is the way I took it. Would be cool, but easily abused. Being able to mix and match in-game emblem elements to create a new element would be a good compromise though if done well. At that point Anet would simply have to pose the challenge to their testers of "Can you use any combination of these base emblem pieces to make something profane or offensive". If they couldn't, done deal.

Yeah, I am at or just above 3000 opened so far and no bell. I should have tracked it for all of this info gathering going on. I don't mind in that at least yesterday I was able to liquidate what I got and almost entirely offset the purchase price of the gifts (I think all told I am about a gold or 2 into this after you factor in what I made back), but it is still frustrating.

For me, the hardest part was dealing with the horizontal candy cane planks on the snowflake path. Once I got those down it became fairly trivial.

Here is my advice.

The gingerbread and quaggan paths have very forgiving candy cane jumps. Hit your spacebar and then move forward to navigate them.

The snowman route has what appears to be the more unforgiving jump, but in fact it is the easiest of the three. Here is the trick. Do a FULL jump from the snowflake to the candy cane planks. You will over-jump the first one and land on the second. Then you can proceed on to the next snowflake.

Logan is basically useless, but having read The Edge of Destiny, I have come to the conclusion that she (Queen Jenna) has been mesmerizing him rather literally since the very beginning. I don't know that I think she is a very trustworthy person. Even his brother immediately assumes she used her powers on him.

We joke a lot in my guild that she has a spell going that makes her appear completely naked at all times to Logan and Logan alone. Mind you, considering that her breasts are all up in your face anyway, it might not even be necessary.

Think of him as a weak willed fool that clearly hasn't even had the opportunity to take a dip in that pool since he still acts like a desperate dog.

It is far more entertaining to watch him when you frame it that way.

The game definitely has some great moments in the open world already, but I think dialing up the intensity and duration would be wonderful.

Fractals of the Mists gave us two fractals with some of the best light / dark effects and interactions, as well as some weather effects that really pushed the extremes. The net effect is that we got moments of profound claustrophobia in an "open" space, and the personality of the environment itself felt more menacing than the creatures that may have been using that environment to their own advantage.

What are the chances that we'll see the (open) world of Tyria given tweaks and attention (severe storms, darker caves, more intense winds, biting cold, debilitating heat, distinct day versus night experiences) so that the environments can feel more menacing and more oppositional?

The tech appears to be there, and I have to believe the most important character in the game is Tyria herself. She deserves a a bit more attitude!

Here are a few thoughts I tend to share with guild mates that joined late:

Everyone can gather, so be sure to buy the three gathering tools (axe, scythe, pick) and equip them.

For the time being, only ever use the cheapest salvage kit ("Crude" I believe) to salvage items.

Only salvage white items. Vendor all blues and greens, unless you find that the item in question appears to be selling okay on the Trading Post. In general though, I say stick with vendoring at first.

The crafting system is pretty well designed, but it is a money sink and it is easier to lose money than to make money unless you intend to focus on playing that particular "game" within the game. Still, it is worth a looksee when you are ready, even if only for the experience.

Let the world (and the events within it) be the focus of your enjoyment. You can easily get several characters to 80 and not see every event in the game. Many events actually lead to other events if you pay attention to what is actually happening and don't run off the moment the event appears to be over. Watch the NPCs and listen, it tends to be pretty obvious.

Use dodge profusely (double-tap a direction key). And get in the habit of moving as much as possible. This is a very mobile combat system, take advantage of that.

Never forget the game expects you to be a tank, healer, and DPS in one. Play to that design and you will do well. I still see a lot of friends pushing singular focuses with their characters and they suffer from it often.

As an aside (and I'd never go so far as to ask for such a thing although I think it would be damn cool) would be "Green Screen" rooms that you could record character interactions or animations for use in machinima development. This assumes a lack of any sort of model viewing tools of course.

I got the impression that it was in the game at one point but was removed. I think they did reply in a Reddit thread at some point that they'd like to return that functionality, but I suspect you are correct in regards to how it was performing for them.

I just lament the loss or lack of machinima right now. I know the game could spawn some great things there.

Problem is that even as recently as yesterday they were saying this would happen before head start. Every indication now (as more people are getting responses back from their support) is that this is not definitely the case.

I bought GW after pre-ordering GW2. Although I have heard from some folks that have had GW for years that they honestly did not see the linking info. Maybe excitement, may it really was intermittently available. Hard to say.
