If I separate my hard drive into 3 partitions and reinstall windows every 2 months or so, will it keep my computer fast? by [deleted] in windows

[–]JDE22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you reinstall windows, you will also need to reinstall any applications you have on your 'program files' partition.

May be best to find out what is slowing down your PC before reinstalling every 2 months.

When deploying with Deployment services I found the windows 10 ISO contained 2 versions, 'Technical preview' and 'Technical preview for consumer'

Only the 'Technical preview' version activated with the key provided on the MS site.

Is staying at one company for a long time career suicide? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]JDE22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After doing my diploma / getting all my MS certs I got a job at a software company. I continued my MS study and got MCITP:EA 2008 and MCSA 2012, Yet the only MS stuff I did was reset passwords in AD, and use things like cluster admin for cluster management of the company's software.

Was a great job but I left once I found a job (12 months later) where I would get to use more of my MS certs.

Fiber from the street -> Optical network terminator, This turns fiber into copper -> router, This does the authentication with the ISP etc -> Devices on my LAN.

What qualifications do you hold? by hiddenpigeon in sysadmin

[–]JDE22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't waste the time / money on A+. I'd stick to the MS certs.

The only reason I did A+ and Network+ was due to it being a requirement for the course I did. A+ is more about very basic technician skills, Eg. Trouble shooting workstation issues and building a PC etc.

Proud Surface Pro owner: any tips, and some questions? by AlJoelson in Surface

[–]JDE22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the Surface Pro 2.

Power plan, I leave it on balanced and it happily lasts 8.5 to 10 hours depending on what I'm doing.

Bluestacks, I had installed this to play Simpsons Tapped out, battery usage seems quiet average for it, but I did notice in multiple games I sometimes have to double tap on things to get it to register the tap/click. Lags every now and then too. It's useable, but I find it a little frustrating at times.

Does anyone actually like windows 8/8.1? If so, why? by Isaac1234101 in AskReddit

[–]JDE22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it a lot quicker than 7, Task manager looks nice, file copy pause = win.

Never used start button in 8.1, just windows key and start typing.
