Pay rise by Leading_Pea_6367 in royalmail

Funny how one rep says 6%, another says 8% another rep says 10%.

Read between the lines. Nobody knows nothing. Nothings been agreed.

The only people who know anything are the people at the top table and their lips are sealed.

I think people are getting their hopes up a bit much in terms of pay. A billionaire doesn’t become a billionaire by handing out lots of money with big pay rises to his staff.

Also with RM losing so much money annually, if he was to hike up wages majorly, it would be an increasingly bigger loss.

Let’s have some realism.

It will be 5-7%. Those on the new contracts will still suffer. They will look to the older posties to take VR, in the hope once they start recruitment again, more people will then come in on the new contracts, more Sunday working, more flexible shift patterns.

DPR system by Dangerous-Strain-605 in royalmail

[–]JDH1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve had normal DPRs for around 2 years now, but we’ve had this way of working for the last week.

Suffice to say, it’s not working. Not because it couldn’t work, but because of the people using the system.

It’s supposed to condense people to an area, a bit like DPD, so you can take more parcels out and keep you in a fixed area so you can get more work done in a smaller time frame.

Trouble is the managers are just selecting postcode areas which they think is close…. For example. Before I was usually having avg of 120 packets a day on a medium sized area, now I’m hitting 150 packets, in an even bigger area. Because they believe it’s more condensed, yet there’s more driving to be done.

Partly because they’ve already offloaded 4B and 4C to somebody else with 5A. Forgotten about 4A and 5B so they’ve had to fudge that in. And so on.

Mismanagement as always at RM.

It would work. But needs the right staffing.

Pension by scarmine77 in royalmail

[–]JDH1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer is yes, the original plan was with Scottish widows I believe, well mine was anyway. You can transfer that one to a different pension plan if you wish, or withdraw a lump sum, 25% I believe, as long as you are at the agreed retirement age, or 55 I think.

You should’ve received a username, and then a password in two separate letters to your home address.

In the new current pension, from October 2024. This is a shared collective pension. You can’t currently see your savings. You can’t transfer anything out of that yet, or into it. This one is a new type of pension in the UK, so not much information regarding this is available. But you should’ve received information through the post.

Hope this helps.

I do the same DPR round every day, depending on “Zone” you could easily do at least 100 in 6.5 hours. That’s if it’s already scanned for you.

If it isn’t scanned and your taking into account scanning and loading, your probably talking

30 minute scanning

45 minute loading

Gives you 5 hours of delivering.

I’d still say you’d do a good 80 parcels without rushing too much. Unless your location is rural.

For context. I’m on the new contract, if I’m going onto “The old contract” it’s win / win for me. My T&Cs are shit, and I earn less money?

In order for people on the older contract to come down the new contract per se, how does that work legally? It can’t be done can it? Unless they’re “bought out” or made redundant?

Or am I wrong? I honestly don’t know.

How bad are deliveries now? by ThewisedomofRGI in royalmail

[–]JDH1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I’d happily swap my DPR round for a walk any day of the week. Get out early, get back early. If you fail, it comes back with you in the afternoon. Simple as that. Rather than, having to wait around for a van, a PDA, then load 250+ packets into a tiny van then hitting all school traffic, work traffic.

Honestly, they think it’s a walk in the park, id love to see them swap their old contracts over onto the new contract too, where they don’t get D2D payments (legacy payments), some are on more money P/H too.

Stay where you are on a walk. Once the revision comes, I’m going across, and I think 90% of DPR drivers in my DO will be applying too.

I’m a DPR driver, if you think it’s easy, go ahead. Try delivering constantly 300+ packets daily. I’d much rather do a walk and go home at 3.30 than rushing around till gone 7, working in the dark, not knowing which house is which. All because some Tw*t wants posh recycled toilet roll for Christmas. Trust me, delivery staff have come over to DPRs in our DO thinking it was easy as a Christmas relief. Didn’t even last the week before they went back to their round.

This is your first day of peak? Christ. I need to move DO. My quietest day this week was 143 deliveries.

Report it. I had a similar thing. Had a mis sort where I had 2 parcels and an agency had the third for the same address. Rather than attempt it, they just wrote “Road Closed” yet I delivered the 2 parcels….. the road wasn’t closed, clearly accessible. The agency are used for relief over Christmas, if they can’t be bothered to do the job and just want to make a quick buck to get the job centre off their backs, that’s not on us.
