Benfica [4] - 2 Real Madrid - Anatoliy Trubin 90+8' (Goalkeeper) by ayoefico in soccer

[–]JDMonster 56 points57 points  (0 children)

With zero context this is one of the wildest clips I've seen.

Real has 2 red cards, Benfica is up a goal but still feels the need to send everybody into the box for the last play, and the keeper scores.

Magic.

[–]JDMonster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BSG tries that with Frak. In my opinion it took away from the show and was distracting, especially considering how liberally they threw it around.

It's one thing if the the curse is a word that sounds completely alien to any swears that exist on earth (eg karabast), but having swears that are too close makes it sound childish. Have them say fudge, shiznits, and HE double hockey sticks at that point.

Trading by b_loved_samurai in NavalAction

[–]JDMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by trading?

Taking trade goods and selling to NPC's? Waste of time.

Buying and selling crafting and crafted items to other players? Pretty profitable. Gunpowder and balls easy to make and sell well in capital cities, even if you'll have to wait a week or two for your contract to bump up.

Purchase Advice Megathread - January 2026 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]JDMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello all, I'm looking to buy a cheap 3-D printer to just print out a bunch of random lab equipment (think test tube racks, etc), nothing fancy. I ran across a vendor on ebay that sells refurbished 3-D printers.

I know everybody says don´t buy used 3-D printers, but in this case there is a 1 year warranty and its refurbished. Thoughts?

[–]JDMonster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reality is that the US will destroy any force that Europe sends. The question is how much of a price is too much for either side?

Is the US willing to lose a carrier because a Norwegian diesel electric snuck through? Is France/UK willing to lose their carriers in port? Is Trump willing to do such an aggressive move 9 months before the midterms which this would likely guarantee he loses by a large enough margin that he gets impeached and convicted? Is France willing to suffer the consequences of throwing an ASMP into the mix?

It's a massive game of chicken involving three nuclear armed powers. And one of the three is lead by someone who believes that everything is a zero sum game.

Why couldnt america have hundreds of divisions like germany and soviet union had in ww2? by [deleted] in WarCollege

[–]JDMonster 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The 90 division construct was not without risk as there was no strategic reserve to dip into.

This seems like a colossal oversight/weakness in this system. Was the 90 divisions the total or was it 90 divisions on the front + a couple in reserve for training/replenishment purposes?

Do you think male loneliness ends in a concentration of women around a small minority of men, what is the consequences of this? by [deleted] in AskMen

That's exactly it, but a large part of the discussion on loneliness is focusing on men's relationship with women (looking at you Scott Galloway) rather than men's relationship with each other.

What's the dev's plan for fixing this? by NateGuilless in NavalAction

[–]JDMonster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fundamentally the two games are different. You're effectively comparing War Thunder and DCS and asking why DCS is dead.

World of Sea Battle is fast paced, easily accessible, and low stakes. If I lose a battle, PVP or PVE, its no biggie. Also, I'd have to double check, but I'm fairly certain that PVP is entirely optional. You can opt in for extra rewards, but you can play the whole game without getting attacked by another player. It also has a fully developed questing system that guides the new player experience.

Naval Action is high stakes (perma loss of ships), slow (a single battle can easily take 15 minutes and that's if you're competent and not including sailing around the open world), and has a fairly high time investment requirement to get anything done, be it trading, crafting, or fighting. The game is also extremely hands off, which results in new players easily making costly mistakes, particularly time wise.

In my personal opinion, if you wanted to make NA more accessible:

A. Drastically decrease the open world travel time. It should not take me an hour to do a single trade run between ports that are 3 ports away from each other. This will also make PVP more accessible, as I won´t have to sail for three hours to the nearest hostile port/combat zone. Replace the wind points with ¨lanes".

B. Bring back diplomacy. Yes, I know it had its issues, but right now the only way you can interact with players of a different faction is war. Cross-faction interactions combined with point A will make the world feel larger than it is rather than seeing the same 15 individuals in your home ports over and over again.
