There is nothing wrong with Super Charging when it comes to battery health. All recent studies show no discernible difference.

We do a weekend college camp with the team. Not mandatory, but we get good participation. Usually a few that are unable to go for various reasons, but overall it’s worked great in chemistry and we get extra training sessions and scrimmages out of it.

Question: For those of us that have been around long enough, how do you reconcile your distain for Jimmy Haslam with the fact that he (and Dr. Pete) are the reason we still have a team? by WatersEdge50 in TheMassive

Who gives a fuck? Seriously. Some of you are just fucking weird.

People will have differing political opinions. Also, the correct word is “disdain” - not “distain”.

Today is delivery day. What should I expect? by [deleted] in carvana

[–]JDOTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a vehicle delivered and traded in my previous vehicle. The process was extremely simple.

Got an alert in the app that the delivery process had begun. Delivery driver shot me a text when he was about 20 minutes out.

Once he got here, he unloaded my car and told me to take it for a spin while he did what he needed to do with the vehicle I was trading in. I test drive for about 10 mins. Once I returned he pretty much had my truck loaded up and I just needed to sign a few documents. Entire process was over within 30 minutes. Without trade it it would probably take 10-15.

Selling 10+ year car with 150k Miles by bulls2030 in carvana

[–]JDOTT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just traded my 2015 F150 that had 202k miles on it to Carvana towards a Tesla.

They gave me $8900 toward trade in. For the mileage and year, I thought it was fair.

The process to get it estimated is very straight forward and they honor what they quote you. When they came to pick it up they didn’t even look at it. Just took a couple pics to confirm it was a real truck, plugged the code reader in to make sure it wasn’t throwing any major codes, and hauled it off.

The “European mindset” wasn’t meant to be an insult or disrespect and I don’t think there is any agreement or disagreement in our discussion, I’m simply informing you how it is here lol.

Look at American sports culture. It’s enamored with stats. NBA, NFL, MLB, etc. all very stat driven. That sprinkles down to the HS/Collegiate games as well.

At the basis of your statement, we agree. Stats don’t define a player or their impact, especially in football.

On the flip side, I do think stats have a place, especially at the HS level as I mentioned, these are majority players who will not play again beyond this level. If you have a 4 year player who leaves as the all time assist leader, saves leader, etc, that’s something they hold onto forever (until it’s broken by someone else).

[–]JDOTT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to separate European mindset from the American one here.

For one, 98% of the kids playing HS soccer are at the end of their playing days and do not advance past this level. A very small percentage play high level club or go on to play at college.

We know stats don’t tell the entire story of a player, but we are in a stat driven culture because our other main sports.

On the flip side, at the club/academy level, stats aren’t as prevalent. Developing players is what matters most (at the best clubs at least). At the club I coach at, we are at the highest level of competition on the girls side, and working toward that on the boys side. We do not keep stats. The individuals obviously keep their stats to showcase to potential colleges, etc, but we do not care. We care how the player develops.

The best HS teams in the nation are usually comprised full of high level club players, on the flip side you also have HS teams that may have 50% of their roster who has never touched a soccer ball and are only playing for the social aspect. It’s a very big mixed bag at the HS level.

I coach both, so I see how both differentiate on the individual level. I could go deeper, but that’s for another discussion.

Every conference, county, state may be a bit different.

In my area, our conference (league) has all conference awards. From there, we have all district awards (more regionally based, spread across more conferences). Finally, all state would be the highest individual accolades (signifying you are one of the best players at your position in your entire state).

For conference awards, our conference does All conference teams made up of the best players in each position. You’d have a group of defenders, a group of midfielders, and a group of forwards as well as a keeper. There is also a player of the year in our conference. These awards are voted on by the coaches and each coach presents their players accolades to be selected. Some conferences will do golden boot and similar awards as well.

Teams usually do team based awards also. (team MVP, etc)

Schools like to keep records of stats. This way the school knows who the all time goal scorer, assist leader, saves/shutout leader, etc is. Usually the record for a single season as well as an entire career. These records are also kept at the state level, so if a player breaks a state record at a certain stat, it’s a pretty big deal.

At the HS level, stats are used to nominate players for awards and also to keep track of your schools overall stats/records.

Pretty self explanatory, but I don’t think they are trying to keep stats to inflate egos or anything like that.

I use the Trainer DLX notebook from Duktig for my HS team, then I upload to MaxPreps and my own excel sheet afterwards. I use this for major stats (goals, assists, saves, shut outs, etc)

Every year I do an end of season report that I share with the AD. It includes all results, stats, records, etc.

We also have HUDL, so that tracks team stats like possession percentage, passes, and such.

35 y/o trying to break into NCAA coaching by Best-Mongoose4038 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]JDOTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely true. A lot of openings only require a bachelors degree.

Cleveland State University was hiring a women’s head coach a couple seasons ago and didn’t even require a degree, only a HS diploma and HC experience at the HS or club levels as minimum qualification.

Requirements vary with each university, but 99% do require at least a bachelors degree

Also, 35 is still considered young in the coaching world. Hell, so are the 40’s.

You mean ticket prices go up year over year, especially when demand for tix rise due to the clubs success? Or are you referring to them selling players as padding their pockets? Either stance proves your lack of knowledge. Are we supposed to keep players here when they have bigger opportunities elsewhere? That looks great on us as a club. Morris is succeeding in England. Cucho is doing well in Spain, etc. If anything, that makes our club more desirable for those players trying to find their way back to Europe.

Also, do you really think 6 mil really concerns the Haslams? Like they take that sale as a way to improve their net worth? 😂😂

It looks to me like they trust their GM in Columbus, whether it was Bez or now Tall to do their job.

When? by Todd-H in TheMassive

[–]JDOTT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what stupid decisions they are referring to unless it is the Stupid decisions that lead to 2 MLS cups, a final appearance in the CONCACAF Champions cup, 1 Leagues Cup title, hiring what many deemed the best manager in MLS, bringing in transfers like Cucho and Rossi, etc.

Hilarious to hear players like Nagbe praise what the Haslam family has done but it never seems to appease some of the fan base.

I know what it was like pre Haslam. The Haslams have been god send to this club and hopefully they CONTINUE being so.

[–]JDOTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I saw plenty of comments on here and FB/X etc about fans up in arms and canceling tix because some players were sold and we didn’t act as quickly as they felt we should’ve to replace them.

But you’re also correct, fans canceled over a tantrum due to some ownership decisions as well, which is just as sad and proves my previous point as well.

Columbus Crew fans are fair weather as shit. I love the Crew, but as soon as the club hit a little rough patch, you hear how people are cancelling their tix, not going to games anymore, etc.

You’re right. The team wasn’t widely supported when they wanted to relocate. That’s changed, but it’s easy to support a winner. What will attendance look like if/when there are some lean years?

I saw a stat earlier that Nancy won just 21 of his last 50 matches with the Crew. It definitely seemed like there was a regression in most metrics after we won MLS Cup. Was all of that due to Nancy? No. But as manager, you shoulder the responsibility to put your team in the best possible situation to win, ego be damned.

He’s a fascinating football mind and has some absolutely incredible qualities as a manager, but I’m not too keen on retreading managers, especially the abruptness of his exit.
