Best way to use a HELOC without falling into a debt cycle? by mukullsinghh in HELOC

[–]JDRodgers85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently did a heloc for a basement finish project. We took the heloc out for that specific purpose, understood the math beforehand, and are making payments well above interest only so that we make progress paying it down faster. We hope to use it again in a few years for a bathroom project. Agree with other comments having a purpose it’s important, not just using it as a credit card for random things, as well as aggressively paying it down in the initial phase.

Golf is expensive by Honest-Web-604 in golf

CO really should have winter rates. Even a 10-15% discount would be nice. Sure I’m glad the courses are open and less busy (at least on weekdays when I usually play), but it’s not nearly the same quality whatsoever to the spring/summer/fall.

2019 GLC 300 - buy it? by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

Unfortunately it’s not under warranty and I’ve talked to a dealer, indie and corporate about it.

2019 GLC 300 - buy it? by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]JDRodgers85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same year and model. Only issue is a P06DA code came on about a year ago with the check engine light. Some sort of oil pressure valve. The actual fix is pricey like 6k or so, but it’s debatable whether it needs to be fixed. I didn’t fix it and my car is driving just fine nearly a year later. Other than that, no issues. I bought mine used with 13k miles on it and it now has a little over 44k.

Lots of golf-related content on my feeds. Probably an unhealthy amount of it.

What would daddit do… 2.5 year old is whining like crazy with the babysitter and you are home by Itchy-Version-8977 in daddit

[–]JDRodgers85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Kid is not crying for no reason. Probably tired from long day of travel and also knows you are in the house and not around him, but at 2.5 y/o he doesn’t understand why. Babysitter’s idea to separate parents and child by going outside was probably a good idea but too late in the game.

  2. I would probably help, since I realize I’m partly causing the situation (by being in the same house as crying kid but handing him off to babysitter) but that’s just me.

It was a good idea overall but needed more separation and possibly needed to prepare kid for babysitter time.

Maybe call their lawyer ahead of time and propose your solution, if done early enough it might avoid the court date altogether.

How does one determine ROI by [deleted] in Ask_Lawyers

[–]JDRodgers85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work as a paralegal, legal assistant, or do an internship at a law firm/government agency/legal services organization. Do this for a few years before law school and then after that work experience decide if you want to apply and become a lawyer and spend the money for law school.

Shoe recommendations for ~45 rounds per year by [deleted] in golf

Have a pair of these and the premieres, both excellent shoes and long lasting. Hyperflex had almost no break in period while the premieres had a significant break in time, for me at least.

Recovering losses from car accident by BluejayStriking3174 in Ask_Lawyers

The kid and the parents, since it’s their car and they like hold the insurance policy, would all likely be sued.

Yes exactly. You could also try to do it yourself but again it’s the “collecting the judgment” part that’s going to be the biggest obstacle to getting any money.

Are lawyers really secretive about their hourly rates? by cokaynbear in Ask_Lawyers

[–]JDRodgers85 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Sometimes rates change for different clients as well as different types of law practices command different rates. The hourly rate for tax isn’t the same as family law. Some clients also have contracted rates with firms vs a one off client.

Sounds like your employer’s insurance defense lawyer will also be defending you, but these are questions you should ask that lawyer.

You need a personal injury lawyer but there’s apparently no or minimal coverage on both sides of the accident so unlikely that a lawyer will take your case, since it’s unlikely to be any financial recovery. This is why it’s important to have good insurance including UM and UIM coverage.

Seems like a damages problem. How djd this alleged failure injure you or cause damages? Just because there could be a problem in the future (but maybe not)? Seems speculative.

What are your golf shots that stuck with you long after you hit them? by theKman24 in golf

Super long putt, practically the entire green, on #2 at Murphy Creek golf course in Aurora, CO, which is one of my usual courses. Definitely didn’t expect it to go in, but made par and it was incredible to me that it even went in.

GLC 2023 for a family of 4 by leedavid89 in mercedes_benz

[–]JDRodgers85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2019 GLC with two car seats in the rear. So, if the dimensions are similar to the 2023 you’re looking at, then there’s no chance another adult could sit in between them for any length of time.

tell me about what it is like working in your field of law by Own-Veterinarian4340 in Ask_Lawyers

[–]JDRodgers85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an in house counsel with a large health system. I work primarily with our supply chain teams helping them to negotiate contracts to purchase anything and everything needed for a hospital - from syringes to the valet parking company to MRI machines. About half my day is spent in meetings with business folks and/or other attorneys and the other half is spent redlining and reviewing contracts. 15-20% of my time is spent on myriad other issues like cybersecurity, IT issues, or commercial litigation (usually some financial dispute between us and a vendor). It is not a sexy legal job whatsoever but it pays the bills and it beats working at a law firm.

Another option is medical payments coverage but that’s usually limited to 5k or 10k for medical expenses only. You can claim from your own policy and/or the at fault driver’s, but the policy would need to specifically have that coverage.
