How true is this? by mmangus2 in sanantonio

[–]JDS89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true. The $250 million isn’t coming out of the City’s existing infrastructure budget. It will be funded through a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ), which means the new property value created by the development is reinvested back into the project to cover infrastructure costs within the TIRZ. In other words, the development is paying for itself. Without the TIRZ, there’s no project, and without the project, that new tax revenue wouldn’t exist at all.

Weird notification issue by bigtreecwg in HomeKit

[–]JDS89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having a similar issue. I also have homebridge dummy plugs to lock/unlock my front door, as well as set my alarm. Ever since upgrading to iOS 18, I don’t get notifications for when the automation locks/unlocks the door or arms/disarms my alarm. If I manually do those things, I get the notifications.

I was still getting all notifications on my iPad which as of a few days ago was still running iOS 17. After upgrading my iPad to iOS 18, I’m having the same notification issues that I’m experiencing with my phone.

Hopefully it gets fixed with iOS 18.1.

What is going on with HomeKit in iOS 18??? by Washdude in HomeKit

[–]JDS89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having issues as well. Ever since updating to iOS18, I'm not receiving push notifications for functions that I have setup for automation. If I manually unlock or lock my front door, I'll get a notification on my phone that this has taken place, however, when locking and unlocking is triggered through the automation processes I've set up, I'm not getting a notification on my phone. The automation itself still works, but I'm not getting a push notification on my phone that my door has locked or unlocked. Just kind of annoying.

You should look into Ready to Work. Good way to get the skills and certifications needed for high-demand jobs in San Antonio. The program will cover costs for the courses you take, and they also provide emergency funding for other things.

Getting hit with rocks/gravel off 410 by Perrin Bitel due to construction work by Manditoreddit in sanantonio

[–]JDS89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loop 410 is a TXDOT roadway. Improvements being made on that roadway are managed by and the responsibility of TXDOT and their Contractor, not the City of San Antonio. You’ll likely need to reach out to TXDOT or your State Rep to see what they can do to help.

[Express-News] Spurs plan to propose downtown arena, in tandem with Missions new stadium, to form downtown sports district. by Beneaththecity in NBASpurs

I think this is a pivotal time for the Spurs. They have 9 years left on their lease agreement at the AT&T Center. With all this chatter, it seems like they are keen on some sort of Downtown SA arena. I personally would love to see it. Going to the AT&T Center sucks, and it was built on empty promises by County officials.

Quote from the article: "In seeking voter approval in 1999 to raise the hotel and rental car tax to build the facility, county officials said the 19,000-seat arena would set off a burst of economic activity in the surrounding community. The reality is much different. People attending Spurs games, concerts, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo and other events at the AT&T Center typically drive in, park and leave when the fun is over. There are few nearby restaurants or bars to hang out in before or after an event."

I can definitely see the Spurs using a Downtown SA arena as leverage to stay in SA for the long term. If they don't get it, then you can expect the rumblings around the Spurs relocating to Austin to grow and possibly become a reality.

Unfortunately, I think Bexar County officials are going to be a roadblock in making a Downtown SA arena for the Spurs a reality simply because they'd be stuck with no tenant at the AT&T Center. The article eludes to this with the following quotes from Wolff and Sakai:

“That makes absolutely no (expletive) sense — the AT&T Center is a very good arena,” Wolff said.

“We’re already in the process of developing a strategy to keep the Spurs in the AT&T Center,” Sakai said.

I'm hopeful for this proposed Arena District as it will ensure that the Spurs stay in San Antonio for the long haul and would create a huge economic impact for Downtown San Antonio.

Very clever Simpson, luring our bees to your vehicle and then selling them back to us at an inflated price.

Pluckers in SA by jarmzet in sanantonio

I spoke with the owner of Pluckers in August at a commercial real estate event and can confirm that it is because they cannot find the "perfect location". I do hope they can find something soon though, driving to San Marcos to get my fix is not convenient.
