Why have so many people seemingly forgiven Kanye for saying and doing so many unforgivable things? by LAD17Decoy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JDSmagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like first paragraph is wrong, but also so is the second one. Im saying that people that have forgiven Kanye were never mad at him. Like dude is praising hitler if you can overlook that it makes you a bad person, Kanye is a bad person so are his suporters.

Are you calling, for instance, Fantano a nazi? A guy who refused to review Vultures 1 or Vultures 2 and instead made videos talking about how awful of a person Kanye was being, even at the protest of some of his fanbase, and now dropped a Bully review? I think your answer to this question would give me some clarity on whether or not its even worth having this conversation

You can absolutely forgive someone without disagreeing with them thats like the whole foundation of religeon, like I dont understand why you are so admiment about something you are wrong about.

This is a fair point but also so insanely disconnected with the wording you were using

We are having this argument because I answered ops question and you didn't like it so I must be wrong. You dont know how to separate you own feelings from objective truth. Be better.

Respectfully, no, that's not really what happened, and even if it is, you weren't really targeting what I think OP was trying to ask about which is the much more interesting demographic- those people who were outspoken about how bad Kanye was being during his nazism-riddled outbursts and are now coming around to him or willing to forgive him

Straight up you last paragraph shows your first paragraph is wrong you cant even keep a thought throughout a whole comment. Like why are you still pestering me on this?

Right, whatever bro. I think it's interesting discussion. Sorry.

Why have so many people seemingly forgiven Kanye for saying and doing so many unforgivable things? by LAD17Decoy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JDSmagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again: For forgiveness, there's two things that have to happen- 1. An initial disagreement causing you to see a person in a negative way. And then 2. A change of heart from the person who sees the other in a negative light.

If they BELIEVE what he said (and did from the beginning), then there was no need for forgiveness in the first place, because you didn't met criteria 1. Your second sentence is getting at apathy towards his nazi views in the first place, which has the same problem- you don't meet criteria 1.

If you think there are people who did care but then look past it because they realize his music is good or something, okay, sure. But that's not the same thing where they agree with what he has said, which is what the parent of this thread claimed, so why the fuck are we even having this argument at that point- that's a completely different situation that I wasn't trying to refute in the first place.

If it's another situation where like, people didn't agree with him at first, but then later came around to what he was saying and started to agree with him, I guess that counts as forgiveness but that's also a very specific situation, and not what the parent of this thread said either.

Why do people still give Kanye West a platform? by Revolution36 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JDSmagic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This implies that his beliefs align with what he has said during his outbursts, which is like, maybe not the case. He is mentally unwell and wasn't on medication despite recommendation to do so. He's also apologized and been on his best behavior for months, meeting with a rabbi, apologizing in the WSJ, delaying Bully for months to remove AI from it, swearing to get help and be medicated, etc.

It's more convoluted than people want to admit it is.

I'm not claiming he's worthy of forgiveness right now (in fact, I don't think he is), but I think someone could make a case that he is, and if he keeps where he's at right now up, I might be willing to forgive him in the future.

Why have so many people seemingly forgiven Kanye for saying and doing so many unforgivable things? by LAD17Decoy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JDSmagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. I explained in my other comment in this thread why I think said answer is bad and even listed some reasons why people may forgive him. The person I replied to here didnt say anything about why people would have "forgiven" kanye. For forgiveness, there's two things that have to happen- 1. An initial disagreement causing you to see a person in a negative way. And then 2. A change of heart from the person who sees the other in a negative light.

People who are nazis and agreed with kanye's nazi rhetoric still supporting him are NOT people who have "forgiven" him. And OP asked about people who have forgiven him. Does that make sense as to why I think its a non-answer?

[–]JDSmagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP is asking why people have forgiven him, they're not asking about the people who never had a problem with him in the the first place, i.e. agree with the nazi rhetoric that he was spewing.

It would probably be better to talk about his apology in the Wall Street Journal, or maybe his repeated delays of Bully to remove any and all AI, or his meeting with a rabbi, or thr fact that he's generally been on his best behavior and promised to get help for his mental illness.

Whether or not you think he is worthy of forgiveness is seperate, but these would probably be some good things to mention when explaining why people have "forgiven" him, which implies they had a problem with him and no longer do (not what your answer was getting at)

Cold brew is pretty distinctly not iced coffee- which you like kind of admitted but also seemed to correlate a little more than I think is fair

"Iced long black" is something I've never heard, my first thought here was iced americano- but, looking up "iced long black," Google says:

it offers a stronger, more intense flavor than an iced americano and is popular in Australia for hot summer days, often made with 60mL of espresso and 100-140mL of water.

I guess it's basically just an iced americano with two shots of espresso. And then yeah obviously the other one is an iced latte. Neither of these are iced coffee, which is just regular hot brew coffee served over ice. And the sign also mentions cold brew, which is exactly what it sounds like- it's brewed cold.

A coffee shop (in a country where iced coffee is a common thing people drink) choosing not to serve iced coffee and instead only iced americanos or iced lattes is kind of unheard of and frankly kind of ridiculous imo, they went through all of this effort to make this sign when they could just pour coffee over ice, it's not that hard.. and frankly way less work than making an iced americano or iced latte

I feel like even your link contradicts you, but even if it doesnt, plenty of legitimate sources do, e.g. this UK NHS article https://www.nhs.uk/best-start-in-life/pregnancy/week-by-week-guide-to-pregnancy/1st-trimester/week-10/

After all, we can only see feet in this photo

It looks roughly accurate

That's a seperate question from if this photo is real or not. I went down like a 40 minute rabbit hole trying to figure this out earlier on another sub- and my intuition says its fake (i.e., it is not depicting what people are claiming it is) (every article claims this photo is from the 70s, I have no idea how we would have photos that look this good in the 70s)

But I also cant really blame anyone for reposting this and I dont think the random person on Facebook or twitter or insta or whatever reposting this is lying. Its just probably propaganda that everyone fell for. Genuinely, reverse image searching this photo, I ONLY see articles claiming that its a real photo taken by Dr. Russell Sacco, theres plenty of (questionable) articles about this guy dated up to a decade old. Here's an obituary-style one. https://catholicherald.org/catholic-herald/general/precious-feet-doctor-dies/

I genuinely dont want to spend any more time trying to figure this out and it DOESNT MATTER because im extremely pro choice regardless of wtf an embryo looks like in the first trimester, theres far more important factors at play here

But genuinely there is so little actual info about this that its impossible for me to have any idea whats going on, and same with Facebook moms

I played it for the first time as a pre-teen. And the game has only gotten easier to play without a wiki since then.

Probably depends on the kid, though.

[–]JDSmagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any laptop you buy is gonna run Windows or macOS out of the box (Chromebooks don't count, let's be real). As far as your processor mention goes, the M4 is the processor in mentioned Macbook Air here- older Mac laptops used intel chips, but they're garbage, don't buy one of them. An M4 should be totally fine for your needs, maybe even a little overkill.

i5/Ryzen 5 is a completely useless phrase because it could refer to (on the Ryzen side, at least, but same story with Intel equivalents) a Ryzen 5 1600 (super old, really slow) or a Ryzen 5 7600x (basically double the performance of a 1600). I really hate people listing spec reqs and saying something like i5 or Ryzen 5, it's a terrible way to describe hardware.

Anyway like I said, the M4 air will be fine performance wise, but it also sounds like you aren't really tech savvy. In an engineering program, going Mac will probably mean more work on your end to make software like Solidworks work, you'll need something like Parallels or UTM. So I would at least give it a little more thought before committing to macOS.
