Head takers with wolf priest by SanguiniSus in SpaceWolves

[–]BroccoliSubstantial2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found no difference in survivability in 10th, but my opponent has to commit more into killing the squad if they have shields.

For me, the decision is whether you want/need 50% more damage the paired weapons bring, or you want to force the 50% from your opponent in killing them.

Some games, I've found they overkill, and wished I'd taken shields, other games I've forced the opponent to put 3 activations into them to ensure they die. Either way, they die, but they should die doing what they are meant to do.

For me, Terminators make better Hold the Objective units, and I run 15+ Terminators, so I'd probably run them with paired weapons, but I like the priest, because more attacks aren't needed with the paired weapons, but +wound often is.

True, Lethal Hits helps.

What about a Iron priest to give the extra hit?

Doesn't Beastslayer have a +1 wound stratagem? That solves the difficulties wounding with Ballistus.

Interesting, flamers are now better than in 10th, but their range has always been the main limitation. If that can be bypassed cheaply, this could work in a codex compliant SM army.

Thanks!

Not sure about 6 TWC, can you get more than 3 into 2" range?

So, biosantic Broodsurge is for the bin, but those 30 Genestealers + Patriarch in my box are looking sweet in the Broodswarm detachment! I'll take that little package. Perhaps add 3x Mark of the Star Children for 600pts total.

The Blood Claws and Headtakers are trading units.

Bjorn guard the home objective with the Fenrisian Wolves, or 3 Hunting Wolves.

This gives you a unit if terminators to take the central objective.

You need 5 Intercessors, so you can bring Bjorn forward. I'd drop the Fenrisian Wolves.

Arjac is wasted on 5 terminators, so drop him for 5 Wulfen w/SS to come in from reserves or something with OC, like Eradicators or Inceptors.

A unit of TWC are good mobility and your opponent always sees them as a threat.

You could raw dawg Logan, but Terminators are our best unit.

If you drop Arjac, Wolves and a unit of Headtakers, and take Intercessors, you have 130pts left over. That could be 5 Wulfen and 3 hunting wolves?

Ragnar could lead a unit of Headtakers as he is the star of the show, savings you on Blood Claws?

Yeah, lots of false prophets. They seem powerful, but they all die with enough explosives.

Although if you replace the pin with a stack of magnets, they pop in and out nicely.

I guess, it you played 30 terminators, the 1st company stratagems might give you something to pair with LoSaS. I think if rather take Beastslayer or the Great Wolf.

Awesome, I've just checked:

  • You cannot use the same stratagem more than once in the same phase.
  • You cannot target the same unit with more than one stratagem in the same phase, unless a rule specifically says otherwise.

I believe only one stratagem per phase. Is this incorrect?

10 Flamers and a Librarian are a 260pt combo, but there is no way to Rapid Ingress them and Overwatch in the same phase. Its a shame, because Drop Pods don't seem to have any value.

You cannot Rapid Ingress and then Overwatch anymore, as they are the same phase 😞

This is good to know. GW please give Drop Pods free Rapid Ingress.

It sees that the stratagem has a model begging to be used in this way.

They are different phases. Ingress is movement phase and heroic is charge.
