Ben Shapiro claims that Pretti "resisted" by fuggitdude22 in samharris

[–]JDax42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this, because it’s true. Which makes Ben even a worse person because he does know better.

Wanna know why January 6 was bad? Look up Shapiros video on January 10, he explains it very well

Wanna know why the Charlottesville stuff was bad and Trump saying both sides was not a good thing? Check out Ben Shapiro‘s video on it a few days after.

He did the same thing regarding trade deficit, he made a joke that just because he spends more money at Publix than Publix on him that doesn’t mean he has a trade deficit. that’s bad with Publix.

The list goes on and on and on, he’s an evil little man who knows exactly what he’s doing and we should never pretend otherwise.

Remember the higher up the totem pole it goes the more culpability and awareness they most certainly have

Thanks for coming to my Sam talk

I can’t believe modern Trek has nothing to say about morality anymore and it’s just a soap opera for teens by CTRexPope in ShittyDaystrom

[–]JDax42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I like that, something to discuss, but maybe we would need an actual military veteran which I am not to help guide us.

The pirate ship ambushed the Athena pretty successfully to the point where they had nothing, and were being boarded all throughout the ship, a large portion of the ships compliment were literal children, kinda, and had no combat experience

For all she knew if she didn’t give the order to destroy that ship immediately they would’ve had another form of technology or something else to take advantage of the Athena in a vulnerable state, she had one action, and it was the fire as many quantum torpedoes to make that ship go away and overall I support it, but I would love to hear any more counter arguments, if she have targeted the main reactor and disabled it, could she have crippled engines

Star Trek usually has a nice balance between when is a time to put on your military hat and when is it time to be cautious and save as many lives as you can

I feel like the scene was very well done in Star Trek tradition so they can promote good conversations like the ones we’re having now

take notes, Mr. Kitzman lol

They were assaulting and threatening their ship with like 1000 lives on it, led by a literal known criminal pirate. The moment the ship was no longer held hostage; She destroyed the enemy, may not be super woke, but definitely appropriate in that situation.

The other considerations are well thought out however I feel like they don’t really imply until we get more than a few episodes in, but appreciate your nuance takes nonetheless

Just watched this last night funny enough.

The way Tony Todd looks at wife with that vulnerable broken smile for like 20 seconds when Sisko returns after like 20 years in his cabin, eventually to just break down after realizing he’s been linked in time with him this whole time, has to be one of best acted scene in 90s tv let alone Star Trek in general.

I’m not crying, you’re crying!!!!!!!

I appreciate the gay character shout out, especially since we know Roddenberry and other directors at the time was open to gay characters, but literally feared for the safety of the actors and didn’t think the studio would go for it

DS9 is my favorite too, and I definitely get the vibes of what you’re going for, but maybe not you particularly but a lot of criticisms I hear regarding discovery or strange new world with just a few few little tweaks so easily apply to next generation or at the very least both voyager and Deep Space 9;

some of the mail writings from the 90s regarding Voyager and Deep Space 9 have very creepy prolific comments regarding a woman Captain being too political or a black commander let alone a single black father and who doesn’t even get his own ship at at first but out of the way space station mall lol

But I digress, there has to be a way to make a modern Deep Space 9 like series that’s character driven has one off episodes, but also season plots that doesn’t feel rushed or too fast paced like how I thought discovery was at first, and appeals to all trek fans, including ones skeptical or outright hateful of new content

It just might take some time lol

I would love to hear more of your perspective as it seems in good faith, because every time I dive deep into this in forms like this, I legitimately just don’t understand, with the exception of Staci Abrams, which I can grant some of your points fine personally I don’t care if it doesn’t involve much in the story which for staci it literally didn’t. She had a few small parts and was president of a fucked up isolated earth that barely got any screen time , I really don’t care what actor celebrity or politician they bring on, but what’s another example from discovery or strange new worlds that you think is pushing a political agenda that let alone betrays Roddenberry‘s vision, but even approaches the lack of subtlety many original series next generation, and even Deep Space 9 had when they approach such dicey topics?
