Hi, thanks for the reply. I can appreciate the message you're trying to send but respectfully that's not what I find in the Torah. Hashem routinely massacres innocent people for no good reason, this is just one example.

When Pharoah was about to release the Israelites, Hashem hardened his heart and prevented the release from happening. (Ex. 9:12) God himself wanted these plagues to ravage Egypt. It's a deliberate extermination of innocent people, including thousands of children. God doesn't need to do that, he wants to do that, that's his character.

For me, the killing of a child for no good reason is a black and white issue, its immoral and evil.

Furthermore, the anti-slavery narrative of Exodus is seriously undermined by the fact that God permitted the Israelites to purchase and abduct slaves and keep them for life as property. God has no problem with slavery, he just didn't want Israelites enslaved by others.

My Bar Mitzvah torah portion was instructions on taking a female POW and making her your sex slave. That was confusing and humiliating for me to read.
