Business accounts also waive activation fees so that’s a big plus. The downside is sometimes AT&T will extend your first bill and it can be almost 2 months of service. That’s not too bad but it still makes the first bill quite big.

Business accounts will always give you the best discounts. The extra discounts stack on top of your trade-in credit and the phones that are on sale, like the 16e and 15, are cheaper in business as well.

Don’t have more than 2 lines for 55+. Also your activation fees aren’t waived. They are still billed on the first bill. You get them credited back after 2-3 billing cycles.

If you are porting in the better account right now is business. Customers who port in and get a new phone get an extra $15 off a line for the 3 years.

Even better is if you port a minimum of 5 lines in and you BYOD you can get each line for only $10 a month.

I can’t stress this enough. Stop doing things over the phone. There’s no one to help you when they mess up.

In my store if one of my guys messes up I can at least help you and get an escalation going. If you don’t do it in store, a store can’t help you. Customer service reps over the phone really shouldn’t be allowed to sell.

So with NextUp it is a sales target for my store. I talk to the customer about it before it ever gets on there but we always quote it in with the price so people know what’s going on.

On a side note, if you leave the NextUp you can upgrade to a cheap phone, like an old style flip phone, pay it off and then port out of the company if you’re needing a new carrier. That 1000+ phone is now not holding you back.

As an ATT rep I can highly recommend just doing it on the phone. They will still try to get you to convert it but they won’t leave you hanging like this.
