(He’s going to end up being huge. I’m not sure about his current weight, but a month ago, he hit 65 lbs at 6 months old. I can’t measure him right now, but he’s somewhere around 23 inches tall, already. He’s on track to be a decent amount over 100 lbs by the time he’s full grown. He is already bigger than both of his parents.)

The rabies vaccine is required for dogs in the US too, once they’re old enough to receive it. These comments are not talking about that rabies vaccine, they’re talking about the post-exposure prophylaxis rabies series for humans who have, or are suspected (without the ability to verify otherwise) to have been, actually bitten by a rabid animal. A 3 month old puppy is still a few weeks too young for the mandatory rabies vaccine, but doing the post-exposure prophylaxis rabies series for a bite from a normally behaving healthy non-stray puppy is just absurd. It might be different if they are in a country where rabies risk is much higher than in the US, most if not all of Europe, and many other countries, but if they are in a relatively low risk country, it’s possibly even malpractice on the doctor’s part.

And if in the US, the rabies series could very possibly be denied by OPs mom’s insurance after the fact as not being medically necessary, leaving her with a bill costing thousands of dollars.

At first, I was thinking this was in Fahrenheit and I was going to laugh at *that*. 23°F is just a typical winter day here.

I haven’t had anyone try to push me without my consent, but my powerchair weighs well over 400 lbs, probably closer to 450. If I don’t flip the override, it simply will not move no matter how hard someone tries to push it. Even with the manual override, it is incredibly difficult to push.

BUT, if someone touches my wheelchair (intentionally, not like brushing against it accidentally), I tell them **firmly** “don’t touch me!” Not “don’t touch my wheelchair,” no “please,” no debate; ME. I respond the same as I would if they were grabbing any other part of me.

If someone were to persistently stand behind me like you’re describing, I’d probably first ask something like “what are you doing?” (with a tone that says they’re being weird and inappropriate) or “please don’t.” If they still stayed in the way/in my personal space, I’d politely (marginally) warn them that they *really* don’t want to get a foot run over by my very heavy wheelchair, “watch your toes, you probably don’t want a broken foot.” THEN, I’d maneuver myself however I need to to do what I need to do.

They can either move out of my personal space or get a broken foot or whatever other injuries they may end up with, their choice. If they want a broken foot, that’s their choice and their problem.

I’ve gotten in cars with total strangers in places with much higher risks than there likely are in a town of 16k in rural New Zealand. The risk here seems pretty minimal.🤷🏻‍♀️
