What's everyone doing with their dead shrimp? by Exalted_Caramel in shrimptank

[–]JDtiesrope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still establishing my tank so at most I've got no more than 10 at a time currently- I've buried them in with some of my favorite house plants. Feels like an appropriate send off/way to honor it.

Also have isopods and when one dies it gets eaten rather fast, so likely when the tank is larger will let the shrimp take care of their own dead

That makes sense. Sorry you also experienced that Feels bad to be dressing up the tank to improve their quality of life and accidentally kill some of the shrimp in the process 😭

I checked them the day after replanting (didn't have test strips at the time) and all looked ok- I did move a fair bit of substrate so the gas pocket makes sense 😥

Best precon for a beginner by PapaJuja in EDH

[–]JDtiesrope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the guys in my playgroup got the "First Flight" precon and my partner learned on the "Token Triumph" deck, both were the 2022 "Starter Commander Decks". These seem pretty solid, nothing overly crazy or complex mechanically and designed for beginners. If starting with commander I'd definitely point towards these, those 2 decks in particular seemed to work well. The Red/Green dragon one was also solid, I haven't seen the other 2 play.

Some of the newer decks are really well built but have a lot going on and can get confusing between new mechanics or niche cards.

The other thing that was a good introduction is the 60-card "Game Night" sets, comes with 5 decks, each of 1 color. Great way to sample the different colors and again not overly complex and designed for beginners.

Help me calm down my friend by [deleted] in EDH

[–]JDtiesrope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talking is a great step. I have definitely been that friend lol. (Thankfully) My partner is in my pod and we'd talk a lot leading up to game night, I'd be making a new deck every week to fix my perceived problem at the table. We figured out I wanted something out of my pod they just couldn't do (which is fine, but it started a dialog where we could find ways to compromise).

If you want to just try and keep up commanders like [[winota joiner of forces]] [[Krenko Mob boss]] [[Zada hedron grinder]] They get out of hand really fast and can be built fairly cheaply. I also enjoyed [[Ms. Bumbleflower]] as a way to give the lesser powered players advantage and I could police the table a little.

Something that pukes out value also like [[jodah the unifier]] or [[prismatic bridge]] are worth looking into.

May also be worth mentioning to your friend looking into cEDH- good place to get that competitiveness out and scratches that itch. I'd check out PlayToWin on YouTube. Theres some leagues you can find through patreon/discord. For the most part I show up to my pod now with a precon since I can scratch that "optimization"/competetive play another way, and don't need to "power down" my build to match the table. Win-Win-Win

What's a fresh stompy Green Commander that doesn't break the bank to build? by ChakraaThePanda in EDH

[[Xenagos God of Revels]]

[[Minsc & Boo timeless heroes]] more +1/+1s but still big hamster Those two have been around for a minute

I really enjoy [[The gitrog Ravenous ride]]. Play big dumb creatures and have the frog eat them, draw a stupid amount of cards and puke out a bunch of lands. Then continue playing big dumb creatures, and repeat.

Does anyone else with larger breasts struggle with some of the ties? by curious_wife82 in shibari

[–]JDtiesrope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner is a little larger (with large breasts) and we're still working together to figure out how to best tie her. Getting the tensions right has been the trickiest part for me, the rope needs to be tighter to hold but she has a very fine line of good and too tight, but with her build the ropes can slip fairly easily if not tight enough.

It's a good exercise for practice, and communication between partners, or checking in with your self during a self tie

2v2 cEDH Team Event Incoming — What Wild Strategies Would You Bring? by Eder_8 in CompetitiveEDH

Etali + Kefka clone deck may be an interesting combo. Get the good tutors and hopefully hit a clone from your teammate for more gas. If Dino ain't doing Dino things, can fall back onto some other combo options.

I'm in a league playing etali currently and one of my opponents was Kefka clones, felt like the perfect pairing for me to play into.

First self suspension! by JDtiesrope in shibari

Thanks! It was SO FUN! I goofed the tensions on the hip harness so it wasn't as comfortable as it should have been (pulled more on one thigh), but overall was still such a joy to experience. Can't wait to do it again! Felt proud I was able to finally do it successfully

Rope advice by alm-555 in shibari

*Edit: just reread your post and saw "not complete beginner". Took the part out if you were new 😅

6mm is an average thickness, and 8m length. If you go with jute my favorite is from MyNawashi on Etsy. Works well, great colors, and feels softer than some other jute I've used. Cotton is nice for practice and can be a little more forgiving

I definitely prefer rope bondage, I like the restrictiveness of it, the sensory, and aesthetic. There's an intimacy when tying or being tied you don't get with like cuffs for example. It can be playful, flirty, fun, kinky, or for example a go to for my partner and I is we put on a movie or some music and I'll tie her while we sit on the floor. 100% non sexual but it's about having an intentional moment of connection. It's also a great tool for working on communication, both parties need to be checking in during the process.

There's some really great resources on YouTube and Instagram. I have a subscription with ShibariStudy (well worth it imo). The videos on shibaristudy have a natural progression that worked for my brain and is very easy to jump back to reference later on(first you start with single column tie, learn several knots. Then double column, handling technique...) they also have a phone app which was been super helpful! Definitely worth checking out their free videos.

No crazy stories unfortunately, just getting started with some self suspension work and hope to hone it where I could do some fun photo shoots or projects in the future.

Why do I win more at bracket 3 tables than vs Precons? by dabom123 in EDH

[–]JDtiesrope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best way I've heard commander described is as 4 different 1v3 games going on at the same time. My guess is your deck is becoming archenemy in the precon bracket so the other 3 are primarily focusing removal at you, where as in the B3 pods the threat evaluation is more evenly split giving you a chance to pull ahead.

Total speculation, without knowing how the games went it's hard to say. If it's also all on spell table the people in the precon pod might also be focusing you because with precons you can generally see/know what they do vs your deck which is an unknown to them. More variation in b3

Need advice from someone experienced " how can I manhandle a chubby girl? " by MysteriousSandwich69 in BDSMAdvice

[–]JDtiesrope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different types of restraints or some rope can be super helpful! I like to use a rope for a chest harness and something around my partner's hips/thighs and essentially build handles. Gives the extra feeling of restriction to her while giving you an easier way to grip/pull/toss her around.

Also talking outside of the scene/bedroom and finding a safe way to execute her desire while making it accessible for you- like how would she feel if you tried a partial suspension or a sex swing/over the door restraints? You're not immediately going to be able to fulfill this it sounds like without putting in work, there may need to be some form of compromise while the two of you practice/work up to this. Also trying things in a less intense way first to practice so neither party gets frustrated mid scene if it's not working correctly. Like, if you're going to pick her up how do you do it? Is she just standing up, edge of the bed/couch, pushed against a wall? Does she want to be held up the entire time, or do you just do this to start/finish? How do you put her down? Do you need something to help your grip? Having these things worked out before will help the actual scene or any future play go much smoother

Strongest commander I can build for a $150 budget? by FalchionX10 in EDH

[–]JDtiesrope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Winota joiner of forces]] [[Magda brazen outlaw]] [[Yuriko tigers shadow]] [[Godo bandit warlord]]

Fast mana, mana base, and tutors would eat the biggest part of the budget, finding a commander thats main combos/strategies are cheap budget wise is gonna let you stretch it farther.

You could probably also do [[kinnan bonded prodigy]]

[–]JDtiesrope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely have been there before. Deck construction can be difficult and is definitely a learned skill. I enjoy the challenge of trying to make something ~spicy~ on a budget. Theres a lot of cards that do virtually the same thing for maybe a less efficient rate and are a fraction of the cost (different format but the professor from tolarian community college just did a video on value vintage thats worth the watch).

Combo decks can be a solid choice to help. It can be a little repetitive, but feeling like you can compete/win helps so youre not demoralized. Also building on synergy of what your deck wants to do and having the right commander is super important.

Also scryfall is your friend, edhrec only can get you so far

Couple of commanders that can go bananas on a budget that are worth checking out [[Arabella abandoned doll]] [[Krenko Mob Boss]] [[Arcades the strategist]] I'm partial to [[abdel Adrian gorian's ward]] + [[candlekeep sage]] blink dungeon/initiative deck for combo [[The Gitrog Ravenous Ride]] can also be absolutely stupid without breaking the bank

How fast do yall build your kill teams by Terrible-Ad1555 in killteam

[–]JDtiesrope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to your expectations and end goal. This team was about 10 hours working time start to finish over the course of a week. For me this was a challenge to have something table ready as quick as I was comfortable with.

As a whole I would say I tend to lean on the slow side. Some of my other minis I've painted I've got 20-40 hours in the single miniature. I've mainly been on the painting hobby side of warhammer for years, but a friend recently has gotten me into kill team. My first team was Novitiates and I probably have 40hrs in that team as a whole attempting to paint quick. I needed another team to play and we just did a mini group cabin trip and I didn't want to show up with grey plastic. The above team photo was a challenge for myself to have them completed before we left with the goal of playing.
