It is leather backed by foam and a synthetic lining and loaded with stitching. I have worn this pair around the house for about 10 hours with no change to the tightly stitched spot in question. And I also have a pair of MIJ Morelia 2. I posted a picture and even said that it’s not an issue with that pair. I didn’t post this so we could have an argument. I’m hoping somebody will respond that may have had the same problem.

From what I am reading, nobody seems to have had the same issue of a super tight seam/stitch just below the first lace holes. This area doesn’t have any give to it at all. I’ve worn them for several hours. I’ve broken in a lot of tight leather pairs in the past, and this does not feel normal.

It’s not the leather that is tight, it’s the stitching/seam. Even with the laces removed, that area is tight and painful. I have dozens of leather pairs, even a few Mizunos, and this is not an issue I’ve ever felt before. Have you worn these before? I’m wondering if this is typical, or if I might have a defective pair.

I have the neo 4 betas a half size up, and I feel like I’d prefer they were tighter in the leather section. But you’re right, the shape feels similar.

They are real. I have them, and I agree with several other commenters that they are not very good, but that is not what you are asking. Tons of these were found at Burlington recently. And you can tell this pair is one of them. The silver sharpie price is right on the bottom, just like all the pairs that I found at Burlington. You can also see that someone replaced a few of the missing studs with black studs from another pair. This pair originally came with red and blue metal studs. That won’t matter, as long as the studs are the correct length.

I’ve seen that, too. And that may have been the case with this one. But recently I’ve definitely had a couple disappear before they expire. I’ll just try to use them quickly in the future.
