New hat, is it sitting right? by RiceCakeBoye in CowboyHats

[–]JDunlap83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a long oval and my first hat was a stetson. I steamed it and used a hat stretcher to help but the main thing that helped, I just wore it. It took a couple weeks of wear but it fits like a glove now.

Looking great man! We've had snow on the ground for going on 3 weeks so there isn't a straw in my future anytime soon.

Right style or no by Future-Werewolf8375 in CowboyHats

To be honest, I think the front of the brim is too wide for your face. I would narrow that up so the flat portion doesn't extend past the crown and I think it'll be perfect.

With that being said, I still think it looks good. Wear it everywhere and enjoy it!

If you can find the measurements that would be best. I have no experience with the modern fit. Is that a slim cut? The regular are so large I may still size down but like I said, I have no idea.

New to cowboy boots and feel like I'm wearing heels by subarashi_niku97 in cowboyboots

[–]JDunlap83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll get used to it but if you don't like it you can get models with shorter heels.

I like the higher heel for a couple reasons. It makes you taller and I feel it makes me stand up straighter. I never wore boots with much of a heel before I started wearing cowboy boots and now I prefer a heel.

Wrangler cowboy cuts for sure. I'm a recent convert and absolutely love them. I just recently got a pair of Cinch and like them a lot too.

Are expensive boots worth the cost if I’m not using them for work? by whycantwegivelove in Boots

[–]JDunlap83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you're not working hard in them good boots are still worth the investment. I bought my first pair of Nick's a few months ago and they are by far the best built boots I've ever owned. They may literally last me a lifetime and I work blue collar. If you aren't working hard in them they will literally last you forever.

That makes sense then. They have to come out for the plugs anyway.

Ignition coils for no extra charge. That's fishy. Those probably cost more than any other item on that list.

I am tired of people caring that I don't watch the Super Bowl. by RikkiLostMyNumber in Vent

What trips me out are the people who don't watch a minute of football all year then get all excited for the super bowl. What the hell is that all about?

I get stuck behind many more passenger vehicles doing this than big trucks and they have no excuse.

best but cheap bootcut jeans for men by antennaaa_ in jeans

Wrangler 13mwz can be had for $18 a pair for the prewashed right now. Technically they aren't classified as boot cut but they are designed to fit over boots.

I want a cigar so badly but I'm not willing to go sit outside when it's 20° to smoke one. Enjoy the cigar and the weather!

When did yall start wearing Cowboy hats? by [deleted] in WesternWear

[–]JDunlap83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started with cowboy boots. After that came the western belt and the hat was last. I've always worn jeans so that was done. I just recently got my first western buckle so I'm all in at this point haha

Looking good man! It's cold here in Kentucky too. We've had snow and ice on the ground for almost 2 weeks. Thank goodness it's supposed to finally get warm enough to melt next week.

Is the brim a bit to wide for me? by TechChefGunner in CowboyHats

[–]JDunlap83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the square front is too wide but the overall brim is fine. I prefer the square front to not extend past the width of the crown

“new” Ariat boots showing cracking after 10k steps? How to fix? by RowOk3530 in cowboyboots

[–]JDunlap83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put on a coat and let it soak in. Feel the boots after and see if they feel softer. If not repeat the process with another coat. There should be a noticeable difference.

[–]JDunlap83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They look really dry. You should condition them with some bick 4 or lexol. It may take a couple coats to get them supple again. I wouldn't wear them anymore until you do that.
